Can't really blame Royal Mail, or any other courier, for that. The onus is on the Manics store to package things appropriately, which means a decent box and air sacs, not putting a little sticker on the outside, which might never even be seen by human eyes.

my signed vinyl turned up on Friday - never received a replacement unsigned one in the end. in all there was only 7 days between release and receiving what i actually ordered, so not the end of the world really, considering everything else going on at the minute.

haven't listened to the remaster in the car as i'm still working from home, but on my setup here (iTunes streamed to stereo paired Sonos speakers) everything sounds fine to my less-than-audiophile ears. (the car is where I'd hear the main differences, because that's the only place I can go above family-approved volume level!)

Just received the 2 CD and Book in the post; maan it is a thing of beauty! Pricey, 55 Euro on Amazon (instead of 70 Euro retail), but I love the album, love their image at the time, so this for me was a very well spent 55 beans.

I know it said A4 sized, for some reason my brain pictured smaller book, so when the actual A4 size came through this morn, I was delighted

Love the b sides of this era.

TokyoSkyline above, I have nothing at all signed by the lads, 'onegaishimasu' IF you find it in heart to consider sending me your spare for the album that got me into them, eternally grateful I would be - domo arigatou gozaimashita!

The size of this thing.... this and TIMT completely ruin the folio sequence.

So I ended up putting this next to the "death of a polaroid" book.

Did it get a physical release or was it just an order form the official shop? I popped into HMV on Thursday last week (Woo! a trip to the shops) but couldn't find it anywhere.

The only partly disappointing bit was for some reason I was expecting full colour photos in the book; as the pics from that time are so colourful; the outfits etc.

Weird how the band themselves have done no interviews to support this re-release. Would've liked some fresh anecdotes about the recording. The original 'recording GATS' feature in Select was one of my favourite pieces ever.

It's a shame as well because the track by track thing they did on Generation Terrorists 20 was brilliant

Yeah, the last two re-issue they seem to have had little to no publicity or promotion, really. Shame. I know they did some live shows for Truth, but no real interviews or track by track videos, or little documentary on the making of it, like with EMG, HB and GT, and at least the SATT dvd had quite a lot of stuff crammed on there!

Yeah the SATT boxset was properly good, as was GT and THB (obviously).

It’s a real shame they didn’t release an interview or get involved with some twitter stuff over the last few months. Would’ve been great to coincide with the GATS re-release with doing something for lockdown.

maybe they're busy recording a surprise album like they did for... was it futurology? or RiF?

RIF came out of nowhere didn’t it.

I remember reading an interview a week before International Blue and the album announcement came out where Nicky said he was struggling for inspiration, doesn’t see where the next album is coming from etc then *bam* - single, album, tour all announced.

Futurology was announced pretty much when RTF came out IIRC.

It’s not like Nicky to vastly exaggerate

LOL it was classic Wire bait and switch spin.

9am: "We don't know if we've got another one in us. This could be the end" (Nicky's eyes well up behind oversized shades. A lonely teardrop falls)....

9:06AM "Manics announce new album, deluxe packages, full arena tour, fragrance range, glossy photos of ill fitting crumpled suits in a field and an exclusive teaser cinematic trailer. "It all came together at the last minute" beams bassist Wire, 49. "
