Once again, the Wire proves his gratitude towards his fans. Can't wait to hear YOUR solo album, sir.

How could the NME flag up SKON as one of the weak points?! If that's the case then this is literally the best album ever made (which it isn't).
Aw, Nicky made it all the way to his eighth point before the politics degree came up! Still think it's a shame about the eyeshadow in the pix, but he's the best advert for giving up booze I've seen in a long time. |

Well I agree with his comment about The Drums

Ed Macfarlane and Nicky Wire have both slagged off The Drums and they're both people I respect, it makes me feel justified in my hate.

Mini-Madonna is about as relevant to me as birth control to a rapist.

Yeah but we're not talking about what's relevant to a forum like this, and nor was Nicky Wire. Every band is relevant to their fans. But are the Manics relevant on a broader cultural level after their 10th album? Absolutely not. Mini-Madonna as you call her wears a meat dress to some stupid awards ceremony and all the papers in the world cover it. Millions and millions of teenage girls model themselves on her, people start a debate about whether it's ethical blah blah blah. That's relevance in a pop sense, it's what Nicky Wire dreams of, and what he is patently not.

I think he would have been some kind of delusional to believe that. I don't think that is what he meant at all. Rather, relevant as in providing something that no-one else does. What that is, is entirely open to interpretation.

Nicky's penchant for the suit-jacket-and-jeans look made me think more like this:
