No more repetition of lyrics either please. If you can only manage one verse than just do it once and then either stop or do something interesting with the music.

It doesn't have to KYE part 2 for it to be experimental just capture the spirit of some of their more interesting b-sides.

Maybe James could dust off the old GATS era wah-wah pedal

Pretty much this. When they don't try so hard, they produce quality music.

really like the idea of the recordings being rough like the demos, would give it some edge, which has been lacking in recent years, but i don't think we'll get that, they love that mass communication simply too much!

I don't think rough/demo is good though...if it means it's not overpolished that's great - but not if they make a concious effort to be rough, then it sounds kinda crap.

that's true, maybe just find a halfway mark inbetween too rough and too soft KYE-esque, just cut all the filler.

"Treefingers" by Radiohead is probably the closest you'll ever get to the musical equivalent of the utter softness of Andrex toilet tissue.

ah, this is true, but this is a search for something siding slightly rougher! as much as i love listening to it in the bath, i couldn't handle a whole album of Treefingers, especially not by the manics, it'd just be failure bound x13

I don't understand why they didn't expand on the sound of JFPL. For me, that is the perfect sound for the Manics at this point in their career. They've done commercial, they've done introspective, they've done glam punk and they've done KYE. Sadly. But JFPL is the sound of rejuvenation and middle-aged angst. Works perfectly if you ask me.

mm, i think they got JFPL spot on, but they had a lot of pressure and determinination when making that, and i don't think they'll have that kind of motivation or mindset again, which is quite sad, but understandable

and yes, bath music can be dangerous at times, but i live on the edge.

I just take a stereo in with me, put it by the door and feed the cable under the door out to a power socket on the landing, at the top of the stairs. Then I put a towel over the back of the stereo to cover the power lead socket. Stereo is a good metre from the bath so safety is guaranteed!

Bath Music; it's a serious business.
