I don't get the KYE hatred.
80% of it is some of their best work. True though, I still don't know how His Last Painting goes, I've listened to it so many times, but it's faded in the back of my mind. I think splitting after JFPL would've been such a cool move, although that would've meant me only having seen them once. But I agree, their absolute worst folly is the abuse and neglect they give their work that isn't on the first half of GT, THB, a 90s top 10 single or YLAINE |

Indeed, but they had already been working on that material when he was still around and more importantly, had not become a chart topping mainstream band yet. JFPL was 12 or 13 years later.

Why are people so concerned with singles that were or weren't. We still have the songs, it wouldn't change the album. So why the big fuss whether or not a song was essentially sold seperately?

Actually, I'm gonna go with not really touring Lipstick Traces. I was lucky to see them at Glastonbury but out of the set there were only 3 songs off Lipstick Traces that they played there. Would've been great to see a few more b-sides then.

I would say not touring America in 1994 was a much bigger deal than not touring a b side compilation when their best days were behind them. If they had made an impact in America in 94, everything could have been different.. But you're right in that those festivals gigs were great. I had a great time at Witnness that year.

I was lucky in '03, got a rare outing of Prologue. I had a great day all round, and Judge Yr'self was great live.

It was more of a what if.. than a folly, in fairness. After all, they did intend to go there the following year.

No probs, was going to edit my post as I sounded a little bitchy there, didn't mean to!

Interesting to think how things could've panned out if they did have a bigger impact across the pond at the time but thinking about that's getting thinking a bit Doctor Who-y and making me a bit on the uncomfortable side.. I haven't done bad with Lipstick Traces overall though, seen 11 songs off it live. Just three at the time.

Toiletgate was pathetic so I chose that the rest as others have mentioned were artistic decisions and probably brought some joy to at least someone.
