Not as far as I'm concerned anymore. I've ended up collecting pretty much everything, even during the years I've hated, and I thought I'd buy the NT box set out of habit and even consider at least one of those books. But there's no way I'm getting into that kind of price range for the quality on offer. I'll buy the Polaroid book from Amazon for £18.90 and that's that.

As has been said, there are fans who'll be happy to purchase the £165 box set and books that cost £300 and £550 (the latter of which has nothing to do with MSP anyway). But in terms of the NT box set at least, no one can be in any doubt that they're getting fleeced by a band that's turned its collective back on the hardcore fanbase its aimed at when it comes to the music. I can only see a £300 edition of the book being the same.

I'd say it might have already backfired on them with the PFAYM box set. Once you can't afford everything, you don't need to buy anything. Hence none of their singles charting for the first time in 20 years since that came out. Coincidence? Maybe...

I have no problem with the fact that some of the MSP stuff are sold £300 or £500, especially whem the regular versions of these CDs/DVs/books are sold at a normal price, such as the National Treasures boxset. But if tickets for they gigs were sold £100 or £200 (like so many bands do), I will be seriously disapointed and angry.

Excuse me, but how comes I paid the NT boxed set 160.00 Euros (inc. P&P) and not the equivalent of 160.00 Pounds?

The Kummins book might not have anything to do with the band directly, but as far as copyright law goes I am very doubtful (it is my area of practice) that the book does not have at least a "you can do it" endorsement by the band.
Glad to know if someone else has different information about it.

If the limited edition of DOAP book weights between 2.5 and 3.0 Kgs, it is not just clothes bound, I think it has a different paper (heavier) for the pages, in order to have a different finishing.

Just to complicate things more, this article really makes me think Nicky didn't have much say in the "exclusive" deal...

I heard him say this not long ago in some video or audio interview. I felt bad for him because he's giving away his memories, but also confused. Couldn't he think twice before agreeing?

It's Nicky, if he thought twice about the many things he did he wouldn't be as fun =p.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I doubt bands have a lot of say in their merchandising. I get the impression that they get to approve things, but what they approve or disapprove probably don't matter to the end decision that much.

Wasn't sure which thread to say this in but my Polaroid book arrived from Amazon today! The two pictures on the cover aren't embossed though, just stuck on so don't know how long they will remain on the cover! Thus continuing the shabby products saga! Had a quick flick through and looking forward to reading it later!

So the 2 photos on the front are glued on to the hardcover?

I guess I'll have to see a physical copy to judge, but I find that a really weird way of going about skimping, even when you want to cut costs around corners. I collect anime artbooks and there's a very simple way of doing it: plain hardcover, printed jacket.

Only had a brief look at it this morning, will inspect it properly later, but yeah - it's two stickers on the front basically!

Got my copy today. Didn't realise it was a hardcover. The postman left it behind a bush in the rain. Gee thanks. Has cheered me up a bit at least. Getting the book, not finding it behind a bush.
