I don't have the quote, but I am fairly sure Nicky has said several times they might do shows outside the UK in the gap, so this isn't changing their mind.

It was in the NME like 2-3 weeks ago. He said they would be doing non-UK shows while on their break, there just wouldn't be anything in the UK and they wouldn't be releasing anything new. I'm pretty sure he and James also hinted at this last year, that they wouldn't be disappearing completely. So it isn't like they just announced this out of nowhere!

Yeah, they haven't reneged on a promise. They said they weren't touring the UK for two years but might do stuff in other countries.

I don't get how it's that annoying anyway. Gives Austrians a chance to see them!

As for no announcement, the Manics are hardly great at using their website to promote themselves.
