The video was mistimed and too slow for the song though. IMO.

Yay!

Yes. I like it too. It has some of the best lines - Do you see the stars or the darkness begin?

To feel forgiveness you've got to forgive, it's lost on me I believe in revenge

You weathered the storm but sheltered the loss

But...the title It's not war, just the end of love....is less of a clash...like love wearing out to nothing, nothing you want to fight for but nothing that drives you to hate....It's not love, just the end of war would have suggested an uneasy truce that'd have maybe fitted the song more - and with the video/end of the Cold War feel.
So B+ Nicky on this one kid

But a big anthemic feel...I like

Agree. It just seemed daft and out of place with the tempo.

To be fair it is a reinvention from Journal For Plague Lovers. Not saying that's a good thing, but it's a reinvention nevertheless. I agree it's one of their weaker singles, but if they hadn't set the bar so highly beforehand I'm sure people would be more receptive to it. It's not brilliant, I've got nothing against it, it's just there.

Anyway, sometimes I like simplicity in an "all art is useless" or "there's beauty doing nothing at all" kinda way. Fuck sake, I can't believe I just quote Oscar Wilde and Nicky Wire in the same sentence, soz Oscar.

I've thought that in the past.

I find the single average. Just a pop song really, not much to analyse. But I do prefer the other two singles and half the album to it. And a few b-sides.

Even more funnier is that SKON sounds like (to my ears anyway) the tune that plays over the Comet ads.... "MSP - We Live Electricals."

Really surprised by the negativity..I really like the single and thought they were very unlucky it didn't do well.

Also, not sure about the idea that the singles are the best tracks on the later albums. To me, Auto Intoxication, Balconies and Golden Platitudes are at least as good as the singles.
