Anyway do You like PFAYM?
What kind of album do You want them to release next?
Yeah, my main worry with strings was that James would stop playing the guitar - like on TIMTTMY - but it's heavy enough on that to satisfy me, especially the middle tracks. I don't like All we Make is Entertainment and though the first three tracks are OK the sentiment is a bit wishy-washy for me to really love them, but by and large its an album that won't accrue much dust in my collection.

Next, I'd like them to try writing fantasy novels and using their stories to achieve archaic-sounding melodies, i.e. the Manic Street Folklorists.

Well you did ask.

Perhaps a post-post-modern Pleasuredome. Kubla Khan's Xanadu on acid. Middle ages meets post-apocalyptic Terminator meets Cole Porter meets Metallica.

Let's hope it stays top 10 for another week or two, and that the next singles will keep it floating in the charts for a while. European sucess isn't that important really, loads of british bands have success in UK only
i'm hopeful for the next single. When i heard it's not war... i was a bit worried that that would be the best single on the album but i think skon and postcards stand a chance if not to sell too well as singles at least get people to check the album out who haven't already.

that reads a bit crap but i'm too tired for punctuation.. hopefully i make sense

Damn. Not surprised really. I sense a quick drop like JFPL (has that album sold enough for a Gold status?).
Someone just told me it's not even in the top 10 midweeks. Double damn.

Oh dear, it looks like people were buying for cheapness than actually wanting it afterall. How's Phil and The Script doing? If they're top 5 for a third week...

They are still top 5, both down 1 spot each. Meanwhile the Manics are just outside the top 10.

PFAYM reached #65 in Germany. JFPL was #49 and their biggest success to date was KYE which got to #13.

Aw, poor boys. I maintain their PR company is rubbish though. I swear I could do a better job. That, and I think the band are quite poor at judging which albums are most likely to win the mass communication. I think Journal would have been a smash with a PR machine behind it.

Lifeblood would have been a smash if there had been some effort into advertising it's existence.

I'm not sure about this. It reminds me of Freddie's Mr.Bad Guy which was also a commercional disappointment. IMHO it's all about what style is an interpret generally supposed to make the album in. Everyone wants Queen to do massive stadium pop/rock hits so Hot Space was not succesful although they tried to make it very trendy. For casual buyers there were many better disco/synth pop choices. The same with Manics. Buyers who like overproduced (I don't mean it in a bad sense) pop won't buy Manics. And Pet Shop Boys fans won't buy a single about Richard Nixon. And neither won't Truth lovers. Except You of course. I meant only-Truth lovers.
