Was Margate not meant to be the worst Manics gig ever?

It was pretty subdued and really rather depressing, maybe a major factor in my eleven year long hiatus!

Not got the biggest appearance list but here goes...

September 1993 - Milton Keynes Bowl
2003/2004 - Cardiff International Arena
8th April 2014 - 02 Academy Bournemouth

Er, that's it. I'm not a major gig-goer as you can tell, probably only been to 20 concerts in my life. But always loved the Manics and guilty of leaving it too long between seeing them.

That was my first Manics gig! My memory fails me about how good/bad they were as it was so long ago but I remember enjoying it purely because it was my first time seeing them, and getting to hear Yes, Stay Beautiful and This Is Yesterday. I loved that one of my other favourite bands, Mogwai, were supporting them too. So it was pretty good for me! Personally the Wembley one I went to later that year was the worst Manics gig I've been to, probably the most plodding setlist I've seen them play.

That's Kettering isn't it, same tour. I think Margate was supposed to be alright. Port Talbot was where it was at though, still one of my favourite manics gigs.

229 for me for what its worth, but I like going to see gigs a lot and travelling which makes it easier, saw another band for the 100th time at the weekend.

You've been to 229 Manics gigs? Good grief, that's impressive.

Crikey, gal! I know what you mean, thought - have done a bit of travelling/queuing for TV/radio recordings (must have done over 300 Mitchell and Webb-related shows now ) and it all adds to it. Daresay I would have been near your Manics total had I not had the nine-year hiatus, but still... wowsers!

Didn't see you at Brixton with Sam, BTW - you gone off 'em a bit?

Amanda (L) - Port Talbot in my top three ever too.

I must work mine out and post here, but I have forgotten so much, plus I have ticket stubs for gigs I definitely didn't go to, so hell knows how I will work it out, plus I was in a drunken stupor for the whole of 1994.

Not at all, I'm cutting down a bit as in not doing everything cos of life stuff so only went to 7 on the last tour but mostly I've just gone off queuing.

It got to a point it seemed like I was just queuing for the sake of queuing so I tried not doing it and had a much better time. I guess things change with time but these days I'd rather go down the pub, stand a bit further back and have a dance. Perhaps if Wire ever got back on the booze I'd be tempted back down the front.
