Nothing wrong with a bit of (tea)bagging at a concert.

I don't have a 'bag phobia' but being constantly jostled by someone's bag at a gig is at best, annoying and at worst, dangerous. I've asked people to take their bags off at gigs, they've all complied politely. The reason you may not understand why others have a problem when you're wearing it is that you can't feel when it hits someone.

I'd rather be hit by someone's hand or pushed into their back, they can feel it and can adjust themselves. I've been hit in the head with a fist and then had them rub my head to say sorry.

Don't feel that anyone is looking down on you Routine Builder, we're just explaining why we don't like bags on backs at gigs.
So your objection is not because it causes more injury, it's because I wouldn't get hurt when someone bumps into me. That's preference, not necessarily an inconvenience. I'll make it clear I don't go into a pit to push anyone around, I pogo and that's it. If someone complained to me at a gig, I'd seriously consider it and apologise but I'm not considering it based on some people's preferences to have me feel them if they collide into me instead of a softer cushion. I nearly broke my nose banging my face into the back of someone's head before, a bag would have been softer for me and for him.

No. The objection is that you might be hurting someone with your bag without realising. Not everyone will want to complain for fear of being sworn at or whatever else. No one is suggesting you go into a mosh pit to deliberately hurt people.

Incidently canvas rucksacks are nothing like soft cushions.. and i love it when someone hasnt had an experience of something it means the problem doesnt exist despite others stating similar.

Anyway yeah great gig. Those videos posted are ace..thanks for sharing

Not this place; this fandom.

Sorry, guilty as charged. I got a bit excited. Not sure Ingvild appreciated it.

I was about to say that I can't believe this thread has descended into bitching about other fans, bags, queues, barriers, entitlements, Londoners...and then I remembered where I was.

Days later and I'm still buzzing from the gig. I haven't seen the Manics in 12 years and I probably won't bother going to see them again but I feel truly honoured, privileged, touched and awestruck at seeing The Holy Bible, in full, live, played with such anger, emotion and sheer fucking passion. That is what I loved about the Manics when I discovered them in my early teens and that was reinvigorated on Wednesday night.

The Manics are a band that not only entertain me but educated me, enlightened me and offered my the opportunity to not only meet some wonderful people (who I'm awful at keeping in contact with) but the most important person in my life. Wednesday night was about celebrating all of that and I had an incredible time, although I was extremely grumpy from about 4pm onwards on Thursday and had to keep telling people to fuck off out of my office.

After all, we were all at the gig (and the other gigs too) because of the same reason. People need to remember that.

I don't think it's so much that, after all it's what a forum is for, but that the ratio of comments regarding the gig is largely skewed towards people venting their anger towards other fans instead of recognising the fact that we all paid our money, travelled from afar and attended because of a mutual love of some middle-aged Welshmen.

but hey, I'm not one to talk

In this thread maybe, but I think this is the first time it's happened in a while - most of this tour and recently has been pretty good natured and much more about mutual love of the band. There was a ton of nastiness about fans in other places i won't mention when ticket sales were happening and none of it happened here, instead fans have been swapping tickets and helping people out. I understand the point but it's a bit grating to have people constantly making out it's about FD when it's a single thread and a few people complaining, and i've seen a lot worse on most other manics sites and in FD years ago, yknow?

Anyway, it's rather ironic it happened on the 17th gig thread, it was such a good gig.
