Wow! I can't believe we are getting a new album. Is it just me or has this been a little bit out of the blue? I'm looking forward to hearing it and if there's a returbn to singles then it will be ace. Please please please tho if there's gonna be singles can we have actual phsical singles as I'm not in to downloading!

but we have JFPL which is overproduced. I much more prefer the demos than the album. I know Steve Albini produced it but Dave Eringa did the final mixes.
and I'll keep saying that I'm not to happy to hear Dave's gonna produce it. of course that wanted to get the sound for the masses so maybe it's a good idea dunno.

I'll have to agree with you on this one Deets.. I think JFPL was perfect production wise. Ans what's wrong with Tolerate, No Surface,..? However I do understand why some of you are worried of having a 100% Eringa produced album.

Personally I'd be happy if he produced every Manics album.

Absolutely. Besides, an Eringa-produced album is in effect a Manics-produced album. Eringa is their right-hand guy. It's not like he's telling the Manics what to do.

I agree. Has anyone heard the second 3 Colours Red album? What was the guy thinking? Well, he was thinking 'lets take away some of these guitars, they're noisy things ain't they'.
Carrie's Fear of Sound is so shiny it does actually hurt your eyes to listen to it, despite the great songs. He did a good job with Wilt's My Medicine - a good job putting in some keyboards and making it sound exactly like REM.
The Manics really should work with Chris Sheldon, who in my opinion is visionary with what he does with rock production, and very underrated.

If it's an album of Autumn Songs then i'm selling my tour tickets! That was by far the worst song they had ever written since the GT days, i just hope they haven't gone and done a GATS either and sacrificed writing decent songs for commercial ones!

I'm hoping a cross betweeen EMG and Lifeblood really, that would make a great commercial album but also would retain the great songwriting. SATT was a mixed bag, it had some great tracks but then had some right corporate cock sucking ones as well!

This, oh so very much this.
Aumtumnsong was just an embarrassment every time it was played. I actually felt a sense of embarrassment every time it was on the radio on behalf of them.
Somehow from the title and artwork, I can't imagine it really being like that thankfully.

I think that in effect is my problem with Eringa. He's too close to the band. I think they need someone that's going to inveigle them a little more.

I don't know...all this talk about Nicky Wire saying it will be like Aerosmith and really commercial...get those air guitars ready. AutumnSong was a lesson for every band out there in how not to write a song, absolutely absymal in every shape or form. The guitar solo makes it worse, couldn't be any more cliche if it tried.

I'm still buying anything what they make. I don't care, it's the Manics

but I can have my own opinion and moan on Eringa, thank you!

Also this notion it "sounds like Queen"... *shudder*

I mean Queen's fine and everything, but not from the Manics.

The only thing bad and embarrassing about Autumnsong are the cringe worthy lyrics. The music is great, I love the solo.

The thing with Queen is, you either do a really bad job of it and end up with the most abysmal dadrock ever (i.e. Autumnsong) or you actually do a good job of it like Muse and everyone says 'meh, it just sounds like Queen, I preferred them when they were Muse'.
