That isn't the reason why touting football tickets is illegal btw.

We managed to get tickets for London. Looking forward to it.
So, does that mean people with an MSP gig tally of 60+ shows but who will be eight months pregnant at the time aren't 'proper fans' then?

I'm told that my friend didn't actually manage to secure my ticket for Manchester due to Ticketmaster being big stupid doo-doo heads. However, I did book London and I've just booked Dublin. I always wanted to see Manics outside the UK and now I am! Bet I get the worst ferry or flight in history.

Touting of football tickets is illegal because:
Quote:
Nowhere does it say that "football fans are cunts." It mentions the "potential" for disorder. If it was included in a further piece of legislation, then you have my apologies, please cite? Football "hooligans" represent a tiny minority of football fans. I dispute that "many" fans are banned from attending matches as you claim. This table indicates banning orders issued by club. Only 1 club clocks in at more than 10 fans per 1,000, and the vast majority are under 5 per 1,000. I don't know what dictionary you use, but mine wouldn't have that down as "many" From the Home Office paper on football related violence for season 2011/12: Quote:
This doesn't exactly suggest that your crass generalisation holds much water. In fact it suggests that most football fans are well behaved sorts who would like to enjoy the match. Football matches are segregated by team (Fulham have a neutral stand, but that's largely by the by) for the benefit of the majority, (who could probably sit perfectly happily in the majority of games with supporters from other teams) from the threat of a minority. Again it's not because "football fans are cunts." Also a number of football clubs sell tickets via viagogo, only to members, but it's not exactly the most rigorous of security checks to become a member. There is no logic between football touting being illegal and ergo so should it be for gigs. |

Well hundreds of Liverpool supporters were in the Cardiff City end at Wembley for the Carling Cup Final which caused many nasty isssues so laws to prevent the sale of football tickets can easily be flouted. As a life time Cardiff City supporter I'm also so pleased I now have a new label thanks to Franny

A great post Bathtub you have summed up that perfectly. Football has changed big time over the last 30 years. Cardiff City have a notorious football hooligan tag but last season only one Cardiff City fan was arrested at home out of 528,971 fans who watched us over 23 games.
Back to the main thread. Good luck to everyone for Friday. I also hope you get the tickets you want.

This will all get solved in the next decade or so, probably by disgusting biometrics. I'm not going to any of the gigs sadly, but at least I don't have to deal with the stress and hassle involved, good luck to all who embark upon it, hope you have a nice time.

Can we keep on topic please, a discussion of ticket touting in football, whilst interesting, is not really doing that .
