James doing the Justice Tonight gigs was far more important as far as I'm concerned.

all artists giving time to Justice Tonight get my applause, but i don't see the comparison? they weren't doing a JT gig when the Olympic thing was on?

best hope is that Duncan Jones takes up the apparently standing offer from his Dad of a film score. it may rekindle his love of music, though i doubt we will see him tour again. who knows, with Duncan doing an Ian Flemming film maybe the idea of doing a sort of Bond theme will appeal to Mr Bowie.

I was just saying that if I had to choose out of the two things I'd rather they had done then the JT gigs would get my vote. (Realise it wasn't the band as a whole doing JT but still!). Yes, they could have done both but for their own reasons they decided against the Olympics. I realise this has not sat well with some but for me it's not that big an issue in the grand scheme of things.

don't know about not sitting well, it's just the "one last shot at mass communication / greatest hits celebration / we won't play for the Queen / oh look at how many people we could have played to and sold records to" thing. it's that he's kind of made it an issue?

he is not being as twattish as Morrissey ("the Olympics are vile and i am upset that they did not use the music of The Smiths in the opening ceremony", but he's certainly driving around that car park, wondering if he should pop in. it's like, he's quite happy to play a support slot for a Knight of the Realm but not play with the silly sods who touched McCartney on the shoulder with a sword in the audience?

on the whole, with what Danny Boyle did, A Design For Life would have been epic on the soundtrack. not to be.

Yup it's a Homer Simpson *Doh!* moment but once the dust has settled it won't be that big a deal

Design would have indeed been epic but I'm not sure if it's sentiments (remember what is shown on the screen in the video!) would have gone down very well with certain people!

Ah, good man! Excellent album! I miss Bowie loads too, but I respect his desire to retire. I've come to terms with it.

Btw, notice how Wire has stopped talking about betting and odds in his tweets? Ha!

Erm, the clip of toffs on horses followed by someone being clobbered by a police baton that is shown in the video?
