Sean wouldn't be scared of me. He's a Kendo expert!

But yeah Gutless, I love the song (SKON)
balconies would have fared no better than SKON. I think whats needed is a single only release ala Masses

Agree. If alot of the bands fans aren't buying the singles, just the album then I'm not really sure what the casual fans are likely to do!

Agreed! However, changing management is probably even less likely then a change in record company...they're far too intimate on a personal level with many at Hall or Nothing for this to ever happen. Good point though!

But isn't it also important that fans who believe the Manics have failed at producing a quality tune, voice their opinion? I don't think the majority who dislike this song have had their opinins swayed by it's failure to crack the top 20 in the UK so much as they truly believe it's not to the standard of what they've come to expect from the band. I do like McCulloch's contribution to the song, but beyond that, I too think it's a bit tripe. However, I think it's great you and a few others love everything the band produces (I do find it a bit strange from a personal perspective because I can't think of a single band or musician I dig where there wasn't at least one song I think is absolute crap), that's admirable that you stand by them in such a way, but at the same time, you can't expect everyone else to feel as you do. Criticism is a good thing even if it's not likely to make much of an impact on those these critiques are aimed at.

I think you mean Mansun. Draper is clearly an evil bastard.
A bit, after the Emperor Stove swayed him into not releasing solo material...

Shame it didn't get Top 40, but looking at some of the other positions for new entries, it's done ok... only 2 new entries in the top 40 at all kind of sums the charts these days anyway. I wish they made the actual sales figures more easily available then it would all be a bit more meaningful.

#Remember you, at the top of the charts...

I second this, I know tons of people hate the song too but I think it's marvelous. Reconisable riff intro/chorus as well.

Balconies is a terrible song. And if the tour was anything to go by, they know it. Remember when Duff was supposed to join them on the tour to play It's So Easy? LMAO. Says it all about Balconies.

I get what you're saying Shannon. It's a good job not everyone is like me!

Wat's up with Balconies? It is the most rocking songon the album easily. I like it anyway, plus Duff playing on it makes it even cooler.
Hazkleton is a good song, but wouldn't work as a single. Let's face it, despite rumours of Postcards being a 3rd single, there won't be anymore as whatever is released would do worse than SKON just has and would be more of a blow for the band.
