That cover is far superior to the proper edition cover.

Normal, special (with bonus DVD) and this limited selected bits vinyl thing.

Also bloody vinyl favoritism, getting a studio version of Endless Plain of Fortune .

haven't really been a fan of their cover artwork since FD really, lipstick traces was shoddy, lifeblood ok, satt pretty rubbish, journal great, postcards disappointing...this just seems awful to me.

Do you have to buy q to get the vinyl?

Wait, what? The vinyl is a magazine tie-in? It's not just the album on vinyl?

looking good on that cover boys
How stupid they use the better artwork on the vinyl you can apparently only get with a magazine. When the hell will they release things properly?

Also, exclusive to WH Smiths? Wow what a lucrative deal with a shop that's useful for precisely nothing these days

"This Is The Day" would be the cover of The The then (I hate that band's name - it's just crap) and "The Endless Pain Of Fortune" is the new Manics song. And only the cover song is on the standard edition.

Whenever I read 'This is the Day' I automatically think of that hymn of the same name we used to sing at school:

This is the day
This is the day
That the Lord has made
That the Lord has made
We will rejoice
We will rejoice
And be glad in it
And be glad in it
This is the day that the Lord has made
We will rejoice and be glad in it
This is the day
This is the day
That the Lord has made

I will stop mocking this release eventually. Maybe.

Naw, it's John Cale's The Endless Plain of Fortune, the one James covered acoustically ages ago and which the full band recently covered in some radio session thingy.

I can't help it: hearing "This Is The Day" makes me think that the Manics are covering a Cranberries song.
