Also, thanks to Deets. It was my fault for not inputting the right Data into the search tool the first time round. And I think there was a problem when I edited my post as you were sending yours, so when I saved and the post was updated, what you sent afterwards didn't make sense to others. My Bad, Sorry : ( Quote:
Personally I agree with ZiZi here. I don't want to be reading through loads of irrelevant chatter before I can get an answer (although it can be quite entertaining sometimes, I prefer to keep to the point) - However, I do realise that I'm contributing to this myself at the moment too, so back to the topic. Thanks for the poster, I like the colour scheme. Please correct me if I'm wrong in what I'm about to say next, I'm just speculating and wouldn't mind being educated on this: As for the music rights etc... From what I can gather; PPL, MCPS, PRS and SONY are all part of the battle to get usage here. A music law mine-field where by money is distributed to the right people for their works. For example: It was Sony who paid for the Recording, so they own the mechanical right to liscence and distribute (through PPL I think). Then a fee will have to be paid to the MCPS (paying both SONY and the Manics) for every copy you have made or intend to make provided that you have a liscence. I think then there will also be a PRS fee to pay the performers/composers/ Authors of the tracks/works based on a percentage share between SONY and The Manics again. Even with permission from all parties (and in this case a lump sum payment agreement?) it can still take ages because of paperwork ect Can anyone enlighten me a little on this? Anyway, enough typing, Can't wait to see the finnished product. |

Just thought of some other things to ask (May contain stupid ideas and assumptions!!!):
Have you tried asking SONY to put it out? I think that if they were to Publish it, they would have access to gain an AP2 agreement (where they/you wouldn't have to pay for making mechanical copies as the money would go straight back to them anyway - MCPS/PPL issues would be resolved). If there is another Manics album comming out this year, it would be in their best interests to invest in marketing of this sort. Or: What about sending the Treatment (one page draft of the idea for the film/ or just a one page description of the film etc... Sorry, don't mean to patronise anyone here) and the Trailer to Channel 4 (or any of the other relevant music channels...Manics special to promote the new album maybe?)? Letting them worry about liscensing. Another option maybe the Welsh Arts council (or any arts/film council of relevance to the area where you are located/European Funding) - blagg them saying that it is a documentary of great cultural importance...and that you have the finnished product ready you just need the funds to clear the music and that's where they come in. (Nights out grant - Money, so that you can premier your film at an event later on prehaps) Lastly, another thought, what about business eye (or any of the other organisations available) for match funding? You may have to become self-employed or create a company for this though. Again, sorry once again if I am patronising anyone or stepping on anyone's toes suggesting things that have already been thought of etc..., I personally can't afford to donate at the moment (or else I would), but, I can offer one or two ideas that might help (I hope that it helps. Please let me know if it is more of a hinderance and I will keep quiet ). Best of luck. |

that's a great poster, but shouldn't there be pictures of the band on it?
seriously, who is that on the right, and when did James get slim again (again)? |

So where is this likely to be shown? One or two arthouse cinemas in London? A tour of England in a multiplex ?
I'm assuming most people will just wait for the DVD... assuming there is one, with loads of extra footage and some kind of tie-in to a meet and greet interview with the band or something |

So, rest assured, I wasn't insulted or harmed by your posts in any way, shape or form. Diolch (Thankyou) Deets for being humble in your appology (Not that you needed to appologise to begin with, I didn't think you had done anything wrong ). All is forgiven from my end if it is from yours. Out of interest, it was these comments that left me feeling a bit belittled/inept (at the time): All that said, it doesn't matter anymore. We got some news out of it and that's all that matters now. |

I agree. I'm sure there not going to show this on the cinemas in Israel so I have to wait for the DVD.
