Except on: Kimino rock where James did the solo and James also did backing vocals on Withdraw/Repeat. Organ on 'So Much for the Future' Nick Naysmith Extra guitar on 'Everything Fades' and '(Nicky Wires) Last' was Loz Williams (this is all nicked from the album sleeve)

i could've sworn it was james doing the lead guitar on withdraw/retreat and there's a bit of i killed the zeitgeist that reminds me of james as well. the style of playing on most of the other tracks is different and i could definitely believe the majority of it is nicky. really not sure about withdraw/retreat though. it has james written all over it to me. it even has the emg type drumming and clapping in the chorus! if it's not secretly a james song (musically) then i think it's nicky trying to do a james song.
i'm quite pleasantly suprised with nicky's songs though. i suppose that's what happens when you have extremely low expectations though!

Sorry to go on about the same shite, but is that true about the album having no bass? I'll have to go back and listen to it.
I'm not doubting anyone, but it seems strange for someone who plays bass to put no bass on their album. |

He's been playing it for 20 years so he probably grew tired of it...

I remember an interview where he just said he couldn't be bothered to add the bass after doing all the guitar parts.

Well if he actually said that then it's almost certainly not true! Didn't notice the lack or supposed lack of bass on the album TBH but i don't actually think i could listen to the album again, did nothing for me.

There's no bass credited on it and none in the sound except for one song really although that could still be a guitar. |

I'm kinda surprised, particularly as the one 'proper' picture of Nick is of him playing bass. On the other hand, if he couldn't be bothered then I'm not too shocked. I am laughing out loud.

Fair, well although there are some bassy sections, I can believe that. I wouldn't of noticed it otherwise though. I listened to it again earlier. Some pretty good songs and guitar parts. I guess it's a grower.

I still find it very odd that there's no bass on the album, but then again Nicky never has been one to follow the rules... |
