The Enemy are an awful band. Not that I know how good they are live or anything, though. The Answering Machine were tolerable I guess, totally generic and forgettable though.

They had a band called 'Audioweb' on the bill at the big Manchester Nynex ("Everything Live") gig in 1997 ... who did an AWFUL cover of The Clash's 'Bank Robber' ... awful awful cover .. and it was on their record too.

Also at the Manic Milennium gig, band called 'Shack' were on early on in the night. Not a terrible band, but jangly non-descript indie pop ... nothing special (IMHO )

the air-raid alarm was pretty cool though
OMG! I love Dub War They had the perfect band name; dub and war. And they really did some brilliant stuff. "Crack! It'll turn you whack!". And it does.

I think I nodded off during the Magic Numbers at the XFM Winter Wonderland gig a few years ago. To be fair, it was about 11pm and I'd been stood at the barrier since about 6pm or something and I just wanted the sodding Manics to come on! But yeah, the Magic Numbers were very dull.

Yeah Magic Numbers were the worst by far.....

I forgot the Manics were supported by the Flaming Lips at Move, That Gig was great. Delays were good but as someone said I didn't like the last record, HOTS were ok, though I saw Hots about 15 times and I would reckon it's probably the 2nd to worst gig I had seen them in.

Badly Drawn Boy was on at the Winter Wonderland gig too wasn't he? Didn't do anything for me.

I gave up on support acts after Ian Brown (the worst, and sad because I was getting into the roses at the time). I usually stay in a bar until the manics.

For the record JJ72 were the best support.

I really enjoy Cherry Ghost nowadays. They weren't the worst support band I've seen, by any means. I can understand how people call them boring and stuff. I'm never really interested in support bands, too excited to see the manics. Really, really, really liked The Departure, glad they were supporting them instead of Razorlight. Ended up getting really into them for the few short years they were together until the singer revealed himself as a prize knob. Anyway, Delays were a bit rubbish, don't mind a few of their songs, but they were rubbish. Ian Brown was rubbish, but hilarious at the same time. In Glasgow he lobbed his hat into the crowd, who then proceeded to chuck it back at him. Brilliant I do enjoy listening to folk heckling crap support bands

I thoroughly enjoyed Cherry Ghost. Thought they were quite magical! The Enemy were enjoyable too. Ian Brown was rubbish.

Ian Brown was amusing to watch, I could see how a fan of the stone roses could cry but it was so bad it verged on comedy.
