Is there no one to tweet about Suicide Is Painless?
The manics version is surely the definitive cover? |

Some of the lyrics are clunky, but I really like Working Class Hero - John Lennon version. Great song from an even greater album. Musically manages to sound raw, despairing and beautiful at the same time. The MSP version is none of these things. I can see what they were trying to do, but doesn't work for me. Can understand why people dislike the original, but it's possible to love it and hate the MSP version, so please hear them both.

Anyone tweet M Manson re: "Brian Warner has a tasty little ass" or ripped of lines in TBTGOG?

Hmm. Pleased I'm not alone in finding Lennon overrated. Mccartney too for that matter. And Elton John.
Perhaps that belongs in another thread though...

I've always wondered what Nemesis the Warlock (2000AD) writer Pat Mills thought of Richey using Torquemada's line, 'Be Pure! Be Vigilant! Behave!' in PCP.
Anyone fancy tweeting him? His Twitter name is @PatMillsComics. |

I told Bret Easton Ellis about Patrick Bateman at Waterstones in Hampstead back in 1994(?) when he was promoting The Informers. Of course, I don't know that he actually went away and listened to it – especially as there wasn't really an internet back then – but he was polite enough to say that he had heard of the Manic Street Preachers and that the song sounded interesting…

Update:
I asked Pat Mills, 2000AD writer and originator - in the strip Nemesis the Warlock - of the phrase 'Be Pure! Be Vigilant! Behave!', what he thought of the line being used in PCP. His reply: @PatMillsComics 13. apr. I didn't know! Will have a listen I replied and mentioned the link between Judge Yrself and Judge Dredd, too. |
