Best gig ever. The most I have enjoyed a Manics gig for possibly well over a year. Wonderful. Cried during Tolerate like a cool person and I was like a jumping bean for the rest of it. James, what a gent. Love that when he came out there was only a handful of us too.

Wonderful Also, so cool hanging with Louise and Nic, and big thanks to them for saving me a barrier place when my door didn't open. Great atmosphere, lots of dancing and smiling and James in red...
Yay! Glad you had an ace time Hanna!

I need to go to some European gigs to be in with a chance of having a proper meeting with James instead of the scrums that we get over here!

Thanks, love. So glad I went. Properly fell in love with the Manics again. If you got the chance to take a couple of days off work or even a weekend I would really recommend it, Tracey. It's a lovely few days away. You'd love it, and there is occasionally less mobbing.

Maybe one day I might do it. If this plan for Frankfurt goes ahead I might consider it!

Tried to post this yesterday morning but didn't work... So here you go!

It was a good gig but a bit strange. The venue was pretty small and had the highest barrier I've ever seen at a gig. The sound was very good.

The crowd weren't crazy enough for my liking but it was fun all the same!

Got Nicky's set list and Sean and The Wire signed it outside the venue.

Had a good chat with them before they got in the bus which drove away...then waited what felt like an age to meet JDB.

Wasn't really a crowd at this point so James spent a good wee while chatting to me about gig, STV, and eating tips on Las Ramblas.
He didn't have a pen like the others so i just got a pic with me holding up the set list and James doing his usual pose lol.

He was in a great mood and was the nicest conversation I've had with the guy...very friendly.

Can't believe I have to wait 2 years to see them again! But Barcelona was well worth the trip.

Highlights of the set were FASTER (with sample intro), me shouting JAMES DEAN BRADFIELD with him responding with "that's my name. I wish all my friends would love me that much", REVOL, ADFL in the middle, YLU, MOTOWN JUNK and of course the spine tingling moment of ending with TOLERATE...that was a moment I'll never forget!

I'm off to find the restaurant that does the best "chicken and chips for a working class lad in Barcelona"

Cheers guys for a wonderful night!

Why thank you! I most certainly did.

I also asked Sean about the lack of cymbals on the album version of Motorcycle Emptiness.

He looked puzzled and then said "Ahh...cos Nicky hates cymbals"

I asked Nicky the same question and he said "I can't remember why we didn't program them. But that's a great point. There aren't any cymbals are there?"

And I told him what Sean said and Nicky laughed and said "Now I remember! Yeah...it's all my fault. I didn't want him to use any cymbals on the whole of Lifeblood either"

I was so chuffed that they all remembered me from that STV show.

Nicky - "Ah...that show with the curry"

JDB - "That got cancelled the next day didn't it?! The curse of the Manics"

Ha...brilliant.

I also told them all I was upset at no Love Sweet Exile! ha

Aw, James was so lovely when he came out. Kinda glad there was only a few of us there too.

He had a moan at me always changing my hair as it confuses him every time.

I didn't wait around for James, I know, shit fan me.

Met Wayne, Sean & Nicky, got them to sign my ticket for my friend who couldn't make it...but lost it

Ended up wandering around Barcelona's less salubrious suburbs for an hour or so until finally admitting to myself I was lost, hailed a taxi, got propositioned by at least 5 hookers on La Rambla at 3am before finally finding my hostal.

What a great night!

21 years since my first Manics' gig and that was in the top 5, definitely.

Visca Barca y Visca Catalunya!
