NME just keep on and on about anything the AM do, to a point they are telling people to buy their crap. They worship anything they do as if they are some sort of cult. I love the Manics, but don't treat them as if they are some sort of gods.
I'd rather join an underground cult than buy an AM album or go to one of their gigs. Their last two albums have not sold well and I thought people were moving on, but oh no they are back with huge selling sales figures despite the fact we are in one of the worse years for album sales. If "The" NME shut up about them, I bet their sales would dry up again.

I'm really not sure the NME has the influence it used to.

Maybe just inside the top 10. Lack of a strong charting lead single might have an effect. Sad that that is the case as Show Me The Wonder is a great song.

Well, I'm aware of the Nicky fans and their leopard skin coats and converse!. I don't know anyone personally who's a Manics fan and does that.
Anyway, now look, it wouldn't surprise me if we lose top 5 at the end of the week. Seems to me most of the 13,000 odd was "front-loaded" and hasn't sold that much in the regular release week. Albums 1 Arctic Monkeys - AM 2 Avicii - True * 3 Elton John - The Diving Board * (1,000 ahead of M.S.P.) 4 Manic Street Preachers - Rewind The Film * 5 London Grammar - If You Wait 6-10 6 Katie Melua - Ketevan * 7 Deaf Havana - Old Souls * 8 Jack Johnson - From Here To Now To You *

I'm hoping for top 5 but top 10 will be good too.

Number 5 in Ireland. And I've still not heard it.

Irish charts are on the Friday aren't they with new releases on the Saturday?. That's the de facto for most European charts, UK always has to be different though, right down to three pin plugs instead of two like the rest of the continent!. The album has also gone in at #97 in Flanders and 147 in Wallonia, albums climb more often in their second week in Europe, rather than just when new singles are released.
Still, number 5 in Ireland is brilliant, hope it holds on and goes gold later in the year (7,500). Ireland seems to have better taste in UK bands these days.

I think the bulk of MSP album sales come from pre-orders put in by people like us - dedicated fans. And that's about it. If they'd scheduled tour dates this week rather than sticking them all from next week onwards they could have had a chance of breaking into the top 3, but that won't happen now.

Indeed, its been like that since 1995 when the organisation responsible for compiling the chart changed to that of Ultratop. Before this it was combined.
Since Brussels is independent from Flanders and Wallonia, I'm not sure what chart that contributes to, but since the majority there speak French, I'm sure it's deemed as Wallonia.
