Actually it omits almost all the b-sides from that era. The reissues seemed to be trying to cover the songs that weren't either released on Lipstick Traces or the 10th anniversary reissues. As almost all the b-sides were on the 10th anniversary edition I think they decided to leave them off this one.

The only reason I think they double dipped for No-one Knows What It's Like to Be Me & Black Garden is they were on the original Japanese release but not on the CD1 of the 2CD reissue which just copied the 10th anniversary CD1.

I was just going through them to re-rip some tracks and I'd forgotten what amazing packages they are, best looking versions of the first 8 albums and so glad I stumped up the money for them at the time.

Yeah - I meant over Lipstick Traces and the Japanese versions, those three tracks are missing. It's just a bit annoying having to get all the mini-LP versions plus the 10th anniversary EMG for completeness.

And yeah, the Japanese really know how to put together a good CD package. I think they still have the healthiest CD sales market in the world, which is no surprise really.

Had the disc 2s of Lifeblood and Send Away The Tigers of these on today, so good. Hope the last four albums get this treatment too. Postcards would be easy enough, tonnes of besides. Journal, I suppose you've got the remixes and Vision Blurred which have never been commercially released on cd. Bit of a struggle to fill a second cd with Rewind The Film and Futurology though.

Funnily enough Sean corroborated this story on the Roadies programme on Radio Wales the other day. Just how much of an insider are you, Lydia?

RTF would be pretty tricky indeed, particularly as the first disc would include Death of a Digital Ghost, making CD2 even shorter.

1. Melancholyme
2. T.E. Lawrence on a Bike
3. What Happened to the Blue Generation
4. See it Like Sutherland
5. Show Me the Wonder (Instrumental)
6. Anthem for a Lost Cause (Radio Edit)
7. Tsunami (Live at the O2)
8. She is Suffering (Live at the O2)

At a push, given how many b-sides there were to Postcards, they could maybe shift the National Treasures ones over to RTF (like the TBTGOG b-sides on the Lifeblood second disc), thus including This is the Day, Rock'n'Roll Genius, We Were Never Told, This is the Day (Acoustic) and This is the Day (Instrumental), which would move it up to a somewhat respectable 13 track CD.

This would still leave Postcards with a sizeable bonus selection:
CD1:
1-12 Album
13. Red Rubber
14. Evidence Against Myself

CD2:
1. I'm Leaving You for Solitude
2. Distractions
3. Ostopolitik
4. Lost Voices
5. I Know the Numbers
6. Broken Up Again
7. Time Ain't Nothing
8. Slow Reflections / Strange Delays
9. The Passing Show
10. Inky Fingers
11. Engage With Your Shadow
12. Kiss My Eyes for Eternity
13. Midnight Sun
14. Some Kind Of Nothingness (BBC Live Version)
15. Masses Against The Classes (Live From Newport Centre)
16. Sleepflower (Live From Manchester Apollo)
17. Yes (Live From Manchester Apollo)
18. This Joke Sport Severed (Live At Wolverhampton Civic Hall)
19. Peeled Apples (Live At Wolverhampton Civic Hall)
20. Marlon J.D. (Live At Belfast Ulster Hall)
21. Faster (Live at iTunes Festival)
22. Autumn Song (Live at iTunes Festival)
23. Life Becoming A Landslide (Live at iTunes Festival)
24. The Everlasting (Live at iTunes Festival)

Much like SATT, this would improve the album massively.

Futurology should be fairly simple though:

CD1:
1-13. Album
14. Antisocialmanifesto
15. Kodawari
16. Ocean Spray (Live At The O2)
17. You Love Us (Live At The O2)

CD2:
1. Blistered Mirrors
2. Empty Motorcade
3. The Last Time I Saw Paris
4. The Sound Of Detachment
5. Caldey
6. Futurology (Radio Edit)
7. Futurology (R. Seiliog Remix)
8. Europa Geht Durch Mich (Erol Alkan's Mesmerise Eins Rework)
9. Europa Geht Durch Mich (Erol Alkan's Mesmerise Zwei Rework)
10. Walk Me To The Bridge (Live From Ancienne Belgique, Brussels)
11. Faster (Live At The O2)
12. Kevin Carter (Live At The O2)
13. Motown Junk (Live At The O2)
14. Slash N Burn (Live At The O2)
15. Motorcycle Emptiness (Live At The O2)
16. Theme From M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless) (Live At The O2)
17. Postcards From A Young Man (Live At The O2)
18. You Stole The Sun From My Heart (Live At The O2)

Fair point about the There By The Grace of God b-sides shuffling onto Lifeblood, might've made more sense to shuffle em onto Know Your Enemy if anything. That said, the Japanese issue of Lipstick Traces has God Save The Manics on it... Lifeblood and Tigers had live stuff that was unreleased as far as I know too, so maybe they'd do that again. Or maybe they'd make no real effort to expand, like the Holy Bible one. Would've been nice to have had the live Life Becoming A Landslide from the Revol 10", and the acoustic She Is Suffering that was released all over Europe..

Can't be much of that O2 gig left unrealsed, confused why they didn't just put the whole thing out.

I keep saying "they", I don't know who put these together, don't know how much of a say the band had in any of em or owt..

Because it makes for great filler and Japanese bonus tracks!

The Masses Against the Class, A Design for Life, Empty Souls, (It's Not War) Just the End of Love and From Despair to Where (all live from the O2) should also be on the RTF second disc. If we're including NT stuff as well, there's also the bizarre acoustic blues version of Love's Sweet Exile.

I'd also shift the JFPL live tracks from PFAYM to their respective album, since a second disc for that would consist of, what, Vision Blurred and the acoustic version of the title track? Could probably fit the remixes on too.

Not much else but you can add Primitive Painters and the Alien Orders/Invisible Armies instrumental too.

The remix album would be a decent bulk of the second disc on its own.
