It does say on tickets that it is not permitted to resell them...I'm surprised ebay doesn't clamp down more really.

Probably not profitable for them to, they are after all profiting from any sales of tickets through the 'bay, legit or otherwise.

I think that others (like me) who would love to go but know they can't, aren't going to just panic buy tickets for the hell of it.
I certainly didnt want to be patronising, just reading through the posts lots of people were saying they would be buying tickets then considering how they would get to glasgow for a gig. I dont believe that people wouldnt consider selling on a £25 ticket for £100 if they thought they could, the internet makes that possible. I know there will be plenty of "professional touts" - not manics fans - that will be buying the tickets cause they can. That's what i have a problem with, that's why i think ebay should put a stop to that sort of touting, personally I refuse to buy gig tickets from ebay and wish more people would. I appreciate there is a sense of community in manics fans but I can also appreciate human actions.

I'd really like to see ebay doing this more, another band who were doing smaller gigs a couple of years back, supposedly for mailing list fans only - managed to get them removed - after pressure from the fans. Ebay doesnt allow football tickets to be sold this way so i dont understand why gigs shouldnt be the same? apart from the fees it brings to ebay of course.

If people genuinely cant attend a gig then fine sell the ticket on to someone who can, make a £5 on top - if you have ebay/paypal fees and postage to pay. But its not ethical for people to purposely buy a ticket for a gig you have no intention of attending and knowing full well the demand for them is high. People panic buying tickets for a gig that they will probably not attend isnt helpful to those that can, it then promotes the ebay cycle. As someone said just cause you can doesnt mean you should.

Touting football tickets is illegal. I agree it's a stupid distinction, both should be.

To be fair, the only people I've seen are assuming they will get tickets and arranging travel to fit that, not the other way around. But I'm sure there will be people who buy tickets without travel plans. But if this is the only gig this year, I don't think it's unfair that non scottish fans want to go, any more than it is unfair it's in scotland. It's just how it is. Anyone who wants to go has an equal chance to the tickets.

If people find they can't go, there's scarlet mist or there is the ticket selling forum on here, so there's no excuse really for being greedy and ebaying.

Did you also notice that there were a lot of people who have already made travel arrangements before even having got the gig ticket? Believe me, there are plenty of people on here who, if they got a ticket to this, would move hell and high water to get to the show.

I appreciate that there are professional touts that operate and sell tickets on for more than they paid, which isn't right, but do you really think that they post on here? What I found patronising and insulting in your post was the fact that you were directing your comments towards fans on here who want to buy tickets and genuinely attend the show. Others, like myself and Takk for example can't go, and are therefore not going to attempt to buy a ticket so that another fan that can make will have a chance of getting one.

Also, I think it rude that you feel that everyone is out to rip people off. I have bought and sold tickets (for face value only) through FD from and too genuine fans, and I've seen lots of others do the same.

The more pressing topic is will King Tut be attending and is there a royal box? Considering how the band are no fans of royalty there could be trouble in store.

I certainly wasnt intending to be patronising, insulting or rude. I dont believe everyone is out to rip off others, but plenty of fans of bands do this sort of thing, when buying tickets for themselves and will buy a couple of extra ones that they can sell on. I was only asking that people consider seriously about buying a ticket before knowing they can actually attend thus stopping the panic buying on ebay - we all seem to agree that the touting on ebay is pretty wrong. I'm pleased that you sell and buy tickets through the fan community - its great when that sort of thing works, but obviously its not always the case. Please dont take it so personally. I probably was only have a rant, i only know one person on here, you have to accept there will be some people willing to do that sort of thing? I was sad that people were complaining about it being in scotland, why scotland, why right now, why no more dates? its a one-off gig for a particular reason, i'm sure everyone wants to attend but sometimes you have admit you cant.

No-one should be complaining about it being in Scotland obvs, because that would be fucking ridiculous, given the nature of the gig. I think all that was mainly taking the piss.

But I don't see how you pleading with people is gonna stop them putting them on ebay, most people here I (assume) are decent and wouldn't do it anyway, whereas a slim minority that might consider it are wankers anyway and no amount of complaining is going to change that.
The ebayers anyway are likely to be professional touts, as opposed to huge fans, and to them it's a business, so it is inevitably going to happen. It's just a fact of life.
You just have to stand by your mouse, and hope you get one. I'm so nervous about 9am themora it's unreal!

Any recommendations on what to do in Glasgow if anyone ends up there? I have no idea what the "things to do" in Glasgow are...

Hopefully with the tickets being limited to 2 there won't be too much mass touting.
Also, you can buy direct from the venue on the phone so it might be worth some of you doing that as the venue will probably have their own allocation. I bet ticketmaster will only have about 150 tickets available to sell.
I'm glad I'm not trying for tickets for this one, I don't think my nerves would cope.

loads to do, museums are all free, the modern art museum is good if you like that sort of thing, its very central. Kelvingrove museum very interesting, in the west end which is nice to walk around too - bring your brollies though, glasgow always wet! shopping? lots of pubs! and there's always the colourful locals, speaking as one myself, before i offend even more people.

if anyone does manage a ticket and is looking for places to stay there is a premier inn nearby at charing cross which is ok for a cheap place to stay.

see i'm not completely nasty?

Bit nervous about tomorrow. I don't stress about uni or me health, but Manics tickets.. Damn. If we get tickets, I'm gonna be goin up with a mate. He's gonna attempt to get a pair and I'm gonna attempt to get a pair. If one of us fucks up, we've got a pair. If we both get a pair, I'll sell one of em to someone on here for face value plus a pint. If neither of us get tickets I'll probably see if I can tempt someone by offering a Motown Junk cd in exchange. Yeah, I'm quite desperate and not loaded.
