I listened to both songs several times last night and I see RTW as a compliment to Axelrod rather than a rip off, meta cover, etc. It's a damn good song either way. It's not like the manics haven't been through this talk before with Tolerate and the Stranglers Duchess. Let them be. RTF will be a class album.

David Axelrod did a song called "A Little Girl Lost" which is basically what inspired RTF. The music is incredibly similar in parts. Everyone has lost their minds over it and are slagging off the band for having no new ideas.

The only original parts in the MSP version appear to be the solos and JDB's parts. The intro and instrumental sections during the Hawley sung parts sound so close to the Axelrod song they might as well just have sampled that version instead. I was a bit surprised!

Love the anger. Because everything the Mancis ave ever done up to this point sounds totally original and they have never "borrowed" from other songs before, or made anything that sounds similar to anything.

Ah, they've sampled someone else's song and added bits. I must be too used to dance/rap/hip hop/electro cos that all sounds fine to me. There's no way this won't be credited properly when we get all the official record covers and stuff. Sounds legit to me.
This is basically what PJ Harvey did for 'Written On The Forehead'.

Do people really think the band would be stupid enough to steal someone's work without credit and then release it as the lead sample track off their much anticipated album to be played across national radio?
![]() Anyone know if Laurie Anderson is credited on Which Way to Kyffin? Haven't got the CD at hand.

Yeah, it's not the end of the world. RTF is a beautiful song and I can't fault it. It still sounds better than anything from SATT and PFAYM.

It won't because it's not a single just a promo track. Can't wait to listen to the real single.

That's as big a fuckup as Richard Ashcroft using the strings from a cover of a Rolling Stones song on Bittersweet Symphony - delivering the royalties to Jagger/Richards on one of his few hits.

Anyone noticed that the album cover is a photo of the roadside barriers on the new Severn Bridge?
