Don't know if it's been posted yet but it looks like 'Rock 'n' Roll Genius' is the b-side to This Is The Day

Sean said last year, maybe early this year, that there would be a box that included "everything". So if we assume that these 42 discs contain literally everything they've released (and who knows, an exclusive or two) and it comes in deluxe packaging, then I'd agree it would offer decent value for money when compared to this season's other box sets, even at this price which most of us would expect Amazon to lower at some point anyway.

The Smiths Complete box set, although boosted by vinyl, has an RRP of £250. Then you've got U2 who are selling an Achtung Baby box set for over £260. At the other end of the scale, you've got a fairly shoddy looking Nirvana Nevermind Anniversary deluxe box set for around £75.

It's expensive but we need more details before we can call it a rip off.

I think the 42 comes together like this: 38+3 DVD singles+TITD. Wonder if the 2CD sets will be compiled to one disc. Ridiculous price though. Will the DVD be released separately later on?

What is Rock N Roll Genius? A cover or a new song?

The box set works out as about £4.30 per disc, which is more than a single used to cost. If it is just a box of repackaged singles with b-sides, it's still quite a high price. Will wait and see I guess, but not expecting anything.

i rmember when that PFAYM ltd edition box came out, i moaned about the price and someone said i was coming across like i was envious or judgemental or something... i.e. 'i can't afford it so i'll moan at those who can'...

i doubt many people will be making that same criticism to those of us complaining about THIS

the sad thing is of course this isn;t a dream world, it's the real world.. a real decision made on real business money-making values...sighh..

The thing is, no matter how much scorn most of us pour on this fucking disgraceful bit of fan-shafting, there are plenty (and I mean plenty) of Manics still fans out there, who don't frequent this forum, don't contribute to these kinds of discussions and don't think twice about owning everything the band release.

Yes there are fewer than there were maybe a year ago, but the problem is that this band has always attracted people looking to devote themselves to something, primarily because of their early style, ethos and output. I think those remaining hard line fans must be pretty much unshakable by now (god knows if PFAYM didn't kill it then nothing will), and will be very very poor at the end of this year for the sake of owning a couple of new songs and new copies of photos they already own.

Like the cover for it, if that is what the final artwork will be. I'll see if I decide to buy it or not. Won't be getting any other albums for a while if I do!

I find it hard to believe that in 2011 there are active fans who aren't members of the forum. I mean, if I wasn't how would I know what the fuck is going on?

But, you go to gigs, and there they are. They've never used a forum in their lives. It's an amazing thing to behold.

I know two hard core fans who have followed them from the early 90's and they have never been on here. They always know from the ticket lines that put up the tickets when they become available 'or word of mouth' usually from me!
