There’s very little nostalgia for late 90s guitar music in general, apart from OK Computer.

I remember it as the time I fell out of love with music. I’d like to think nobody cares about Travis’ massive albums anymore either.

It all went wrong when the supposed biggest album of all time, Be Here Now, turned out to be shit.

Things got so bad that Coldplay was allowed to happen.

Best sum up of late 90s guitar music I've heard. So true!

This album needs a remaster sooooo bad. The treble is sharp as hell. It's basically mastered for a bad bassy, no-treble Sony X-Bass cassette player in 1999. An otherwise glorious sounding album let down by a thin master. This should sound sumptuous, with a little sparkle on top, futuristic, but not plastic -- Like Cardigans' Gran Turismo basicaly.

The foremost reason why I'm so excited about this is I can finally listen to one of their best albums on modern gear.

Also, as a note, the David Holmes Tolerate remix is sublime.

Class Reunion of the Sunset Marquis is probably my favourite Manics remix. Prefer it to the original Tolerate, such a gorgeous track to get lost in. Love when it goes really discordant in the middle only to swim back into the chorus effortlessly.
That said, is it even a remix? I never heard any of the original in it, always considered it more of an instrumental cover version if anything.

Obviously there are a lot of people here who love the album, but my experience of the wider fanbase is that TIMT is considered their worst album. I often come across people who hate it and even see it as a turning point after which they only made a couple of good records.

It's my favourite Manics album. This only happened a few years ago, and it really surprised me.

.
Class Reunion of the Sunset Marquis?

Is that what you call the david holmes tolerate remix? the instrument, that changes they key the song is in? about 7 minutes long --

This one?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx6T9cfInp4

Or is it some other track. Such an odd title, why is it called that?

EDIT: I checked discogs and damn, it appears it really is called that! What an incredible title.

The pros and cons of buying 1998 strength CDs, I find it a quiet album as well listening to it. It isn't. It's as loud as anything they've done but thanks to the "perfect sound forever" CD technology, it's deafening to ants not humans.
I don't care if they don't tour it or even bring out a box, just a remaster of the album would do me.
Until the NEXT remaster ten or twenty years later of course.

Is the start of this remix the music from the Louder Than War Menu? My goodness what an unexpected flashback. Felt like 2001 for a split second.

The UK TIMT CD singles had a weird thing of featuring truncated titles on the back of the sleeve, but then featuring the full remix title on the inner sleeve. See also: The Everlasting (Deadly Avenger's Psalm 315), You Stole the Sun From My Heart (David Holmes' A Joyful Racket Remix) and Stereolab's Tsunami (Electron Ray Tube Mix).

Well I suppose this Mexican festival ought to put to bed any hopes of a This Is My Truth anniversary tour. Presumably they're gonna do more in South/Central America than just this festival.. Hell of a trek for one gig otherwise, great that they're getting to a bit of the world they haven't performed in yet. Half expected summat to coincide with James and Sean's Patagonia trek, last year was it? Year before? I dunno... Nicky to say oh yeah, I'll meet you in Montevideo or where the fuck ever, lets do a few gigs before you come back eh?

There's a particular Kevin Carter remix that feels like browsing the Forever Delayed DVD circa 2002

Well, Mexico also borders the US to the north, so they could go there
