I'll be buying BRMC, Arcade Fire and The Coral's new singles all on the same day as Autumnsong (already preordered). Can't remember a day when I've purchased more than two new singles on the same day. I'm safe in getting those singles as they'll not challenge the Manics.

It the whole "download" system didn't come in to it, I would say Autumn Song would hit the no:2 spot easy. That's why I don't think you can compare the possible singles positions of SATT to Lifeblood really.

Many songs seem to hangaround for an age on the charts these days all thanks to downloading and because of this I think AS may hit around the no:5position which is bad (better the singles off know Your Enemy)

HMV says they have shipped my singles

Might get the BRMC single b-sides from iTunes and the coral's single again from iTunes if they have it.

HMV? Didn't you want the 'exclusive signed poster' offered by recordstore?

There is so much fuss about Rhianna making chart history and possible staying at number 1 for a million weeks.

To have a band like the manics knock her off would be so powerful it would be awesome.

She has 9 weeks at number 1, the most time spend at number 1 in a unbreakable row is bryan adams at 16 weeks, but the most time spend at number 1 for a single song is Frankie Laine's I Believe at 18 weeks.

Sadly, I don't think that AS is going to chart very well at all. It has not made it into the top 100 on itunes and on most sites YLAINE is still listed as the most popular tack by the band. On HMV who also list by poularity, it is behind the album, YLAINE formats and Forever Delayed.

Thats all very well - but posting that here is like preaching to the converted - put it on other forums and message boards

I predict no 5, then disappear quickly as YLAINE did.

What do you mean quickly? - 10 weeks in the top 75 is the best result they have had since Tolerate.

I've never heard the song, but again, there's a reason she's number one and has been staying there, and I bet it's not because she releases three releases for a fiver to cheat the charts .

I don't see how it's powerful for the manics to knock her off, the charts are a measure of popularity with the single buying (read young, mainly teenage girls ) public, and the manics aren't. Although occasionally enough of the general public, but mainly the hardcore fanbase rush out to give them a high position.

I think a top #5 is definitely on the cards. If they had made a good video and spent a bit of dosh on it then it would have been on the music channels and caught people's attention. For a second single I don't think a top #5 placing will be bad really. I'll stick my neck out and say it'll peak at #3 this Sunday and then disappear from the top 75 within 3 or 4 weeks.
