I really liked the Answering Machine, they were kind enough to come out and talk to me after the Roundhouse as well.

i thought anwering machine were crap
didn't mind the departure but don't like them now
quite enjoyed cherry ghost
really really loved catatonia and delays
the person who thought he was exaggerating how bad ian brown was - you weren't - worst act i have ever seen ever - in london:"is it cos you can't have me?" ARGH
and surprisingly enough it means that fucking starsailor (can't say the name without the epithet i'm afraid) were not actually the worst band i've ever seen - only second worse, shame as they were truly awful as well
if festivals count then flaming lips, sfa, kinesis, pull tiger tail, tiny dancers would all count as good ones but its not really the same is it - not like the manics were choosing who to support them at these festivals

Didn't mind them too much (I didn't know there was even a full band, I thought the bass player was all by herself ), Bear Hands grew on me a little, but we're breaking that down easy - we enjoyed one half of the band the first night, and 3/4 the next (we really liked the bass player and the drummer, but the singer.... looked like Rivers Cuomo let himself go and sang like Robert Smith never EVER got over Three Imaginary Boys. Oh and the other guitar player was okay). They were okay - they could be great though... All it takes is a phone call.

What about looking into the front row of a Manics crowd, pausing mid-song and saying "Make-up's fer girls!"

Bravo, you monkey-faced cunt.

Dub War were pretty bad. I can remember silly billy sycophants wetting their pants over them just because they came from the same area as MSP. Whoopie-Doo! They were still sh*t!

Right then...the ones I can remember or definitely saw:

Dub War - utter shite
Sleeper - decent
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - really good
Catatonia - really good
Boo Radleys - ok
My Vitriol - load of undecipherable noise
Ian Brown - great songs shame about the performance

(at this point I am going to lament my failure to bother with the wonderful Hope of the States)

Little Man Tate - rubbish. Very pleased they are no more
John Power - AMAZING even though only 3 songs
Badly Drawn Boy - yawn
Magic Numbers - live they were great, but songs dull
Cherry Ghost - not the best live but a brilliant first album

I have missed loads others as well through being late or not bothered.

Discluding festivals, I've never seen a good opening act for Manics. Delays and Fear Of Music were average at best, but otherwise, it's always been a thoroughly tedious wait for them to arrive on stage whenever I've seen them.

Surprisingly, only the second mention in this thread for The Strange Death of Liberal England in '07, perhaps the 3rd worst act I have ever seen live (folkie Marie Sioux and South Walians 'Sixty', if you're asking). Unlistenable shite, and po-faced to the point of being almost funny.

well i think i might be the only one here to say this, but i thought ian brown was ace saw him in nottingham ok so he can't hold a tune in a bucket but with his dodgy hand dancing and terriable michael jackson covers made it an entertaining support act, unlike starsailer who were just dull

love and lipstick traces

Yeah! I forgot about Ian Brown!
Jeez, that was a let down...
'And on the bongos, Mr Goldfinger'... best person on stage.

Kenisis were good as were Mogwai.

My Vitriol were rubbish both nights I saw them. The lead singer stormed off stage one night. Rubbish

Manson were good-ish

Hope of The States really set things up by giving it everything when I saw them.

Catatonia were a bit boring.

Ian Brown was awful.

How about Reading 94 - Sensless Things, Terrorvision, Radiohead and Pulp. Does that count as a warm up?
