YAY! If you're really lucky they'll swap Everlasting into the acoustic set and you can have La Tristessa Durera and durera and durera bore you to tears full band...

I think that Glasnost is the only Lifeblood song that hasn't been played live at some point (including radio sessions etc).

I'd like to see Ocean Spray get dropped too, but I think I've made that abundantly clear already.

Don't remember hearing of any performances of Fragments or Emily, either. Always/Never?

Fragments was played during a Lamacq session. I thought the other two were played too, but apparently they weren't. The memory's not what it used to be...

I'm sure they did Glasnost. The only tracks from that album that I'm fairly certain they didn't do live are Fragments, Always/Never, maybe Emily...but I can't be arsed checking the Manics wiki

Regards,
Marwood.

No, they definitely haven't. And I could be arsed to check. You're right about Emily and Always/Never though, it seems.

Sure, because it became a sacrificial lamb in Nicky's quest to be on the front of the NME and get Radio 1 airplay again

FACT: NME is now outsold by Doctor Who Magazine. A publication about one specific television programme outsells one about an entire medium of artistic expression. So he'd sell more records if he swapped dresses for frockcoats, feather boas for woolly scarfs, kept Lifeblood tracks in the setlists, and added the Doctor Who theme. Think on it, Wire.

Regards,
Marwood.

That's settled then!

Does anyone apart from pre-pubescant girls read the NME?

Blimey! One of my faves from the album too. I always think I heard it live, same with Nixon which I somehow missed, and get really confused whenever I look at the old setlists

Regards,
Marwood.

Around the time of Lifeblood (sort of the peak/end of Libertines fever) I'd get it every week. Now I flick through it in Sainsburys every week on the off-chance that the Manics are mentioned, but otherwise, no...

Regards,
Marwood.

Am I right in thinking it occasionally commits the ultimate music journo sin of replacing a band member's surname with the name of the band? Thus making him James Dean Manic? I might be wrong on that one but seem to remember some magazine doing that.

Nixon sounded a million times better live btw! One of the highlights of the set.

They do it all the time! Nicky Manic, Richey Manic, James Dean Manic, Sean Manic...*

*They do it for other bands too, but really, who cares?

Nooooo don't say that! You're just teasing me with something I will never get to hear live. Actually 1985 on the SATT winter tour sounded amazing, it had a kind of vitality that the original album doesn't, and I did find myself wondering what the whole album would be like if it sounded like that...

Regards,
Marwood.
