Preaching to the converted brings the converted together. It's communion, yo! And the converted together generate numbers. Also, sales numbers.

I will be proper pissed off if 30 Years isn't the single. It should have been their comeback single. I don't give a shit about what does and doesn't sell. Wire is constantly banging on about being relevant, Bradfield consistently sites its lyrics as important and unique. They're both clearly proud of it and the rallying call from it is important RIGHT NOW! Such a wasted opportunity if they don't.

Anthem is so dated it sounds like a cover.
50YOW isn't single material though, not because it isn't good but because it isn't radio friendly enough for a label like Sony to be happy releasing. I don't blame the band for poor single choices but I do blame them for their setlists. |

I really wasn't bothered until I heard it. I have to admit, I was all "WTF?" when I read some of your reactions to RTF because I mistakenly thought the whole album would be in the same vein as 'Show Me the Wonder', but thankfully, it's so not.

My friend told me today that this was the first manics album she bought in 15 years. She loves it. Lots of people that aren't remotely fussed have been saying they like the songs. Didn't happen with postcards! |

Maybe the album should have been abbreviated to WTF instead of RTF

I was completely un-bothered (post-Postcards, which sent me scurrying back to the 90s Manics as the band I really love) until I heard it. first listen was 'well that's not awful' and every subsequent one has made me like it more and more.
totally agree with everyone saying 30-Year War would make a great single. I like AFALC about equally, but 30YW catches the attention better.

With all due respect to everyone on this forum, there is some amount of shite being spewed in this thread.

No offence, but I found a certain part of something miscellaneous an arbitrary amount of unspecified.

Pretty sure they do, based on previous albums and interviews. Bands usually choose, or at least have a lot of input on the single selection.
