Well I for one had a fabulous time. The gig was great and I got to meet some of you wonderful people.

I, like manic street mike, had no issue with the daylight. I thought I would but I didn't when push came to shove. But twilight actually worked best I felt.

I'm sitting in my hotel at the moment watching it back on bbc player. I remember now why my throat is so scratchy today....so much yelling!.

Yes - much of the crowd seems subdued but I thought, being there, that they were pretty lively through both sets. Though i should add two caveats: A-I was near the front so there were probably more hardcore fans than further back. and B- UEF who was with me says he found them subdued so maybe I'm talking crap!

I did find one girl behind me funny. When they played This is Yesterday she exclaimed I love this song as if pleasantly surprised to hear it. Again, with PCP she did the same thing. Ummm.....

Oh yeah, the gig was very quiet too... definitely some decibel limiting for local residents, or the open air nature of the gig, or both.

Reckon a few of the Cardiff girls out on Friday night would give it a go though

I had an amazing time - great people, great venue, great gig and so much fun in the castle bar afterwards.

Oops, I appear to have accidentally posted in the FMF Moans thread...

How else do you expect gracie to react when you make a point of their age somehow nullifying their opinion? I get it. You can wave your "I've been a fan for over twenty years and have seen Richey live" schlong about all you like, it doesn't make what you're saying justified, nor does it mean gracie can't have an opinion (or that yours is more valid) just because of their age. They were hardly outraged last night, just concerned. Some of the worst offenders were long time fans. I don't agree with what they said but they're entitled to their opinion and we can all gently rib each other without being cruel as you were to gracie. It's just petty.

The sense of ownership some older fans feel is just perverse.
Wait, im trying to justify MY self. Ok. The point was the fact someone who is 16 suggested they should retire, and if I'm not mistaken I don't remember MSP doing any/many underage gigs. I haven't said at any point I should know better because of a supposed hierarchy, but yes I have seen them over the years and every time I think it's their last. They probably played for 75 mins at the original THB gig.

But sure it's ok for those points not to get validated and for me to be called a twat instead. Ok you can skip over that too. I really will not lose any sleep.

I got huge enjoyment out of last night and the other THB gig I was at, they were both different but I wasn't bemoaning their lack of whatever. City gigs are usually restricted, I could tell that for the support band.

The show was obviously scripted in certain ways for the cameras to know exactly what to film. Not sure how much but it was obvious from the bits Ive seen.

In the airport now ....back to life, back to reality.

Just to chip in, I think most of their gigs are 14+ (or the like).

I'd rather not get involved in the squabbling but, Gracie, given that you only saw the Manics live for the first time last week, I'm astonished that you think they should only do one more tour and one more album then retire.... surely you'd want to experience the magic of the Manics over and over again for years to come? As long as they are releasing good music (which they have been doing) to complement their vast and distinguished back catalogue then I want them to keep going.

Without wading in either, i read it more as 'you can only have seen them once or twice/in the last year or so, how can you tell' rather than 'you're 16, how could you possibly be right'...

Hate to say it but I didn't enjoy it. The atmosphere wasn't my thing although This Is Yesterday was really great as the sun went down. The sound I felt was a bit rubbish, I was too far back and the crowd was weird. Also after 4 times of seeing them I don't ever want to hear them play stuff like YLA anymore, it's just not doing it for me.
I'm glad I saw the bible in Dublin last year.
Watching it back though the boys played great, it was just the sound, setting and crowd that made me not enjoy it.

Highlights though obviously smashing bass guitar, SPLAM and You Love Us/Design For Life with fireworks.

Sorry to join in on the moaning!

14+ or accompanied by someone over 18, yeah.

Finn stop ruining the hardcore atmosphere with your optimism and thankfulness.
