Had a quick skim, criminal that that version of Ready Drowning (autocorrect: Ready for Dieting) was left off (same goes for the John Cale version while we're at it).
This re-release had so many missed opportunities. Would have been happy if they delayed six months to put a proper package together with some interviews and a live recording.

Doc was fantastic. Great to be transported back to the late 90s for an hour.
I understand people saying it should have been part of the release or they should have delayed the release to include it. I've no problem how they did it as I'm pretty sure we'll be getting new songs, of not a new album, by the end of the year. |

If people have an issue about how this (beautiful little film) was realeased take another listen to Nickys talk before The Everlasting about how our generation forgets about the important things.

Ah, that was fantastic. Properly captured the feeling of the album and the era. Beautiful little film.

That is never going to get old as far I'm concerned.
One thing I found it interesting about Truth & Memory was how much Nobody Loved You featured, considering its subordination on the reissued album. I guess it was just a product of what footage was available.

One of the interesting things that the film (deliberately or otherwise) brought up was the bit where Nicky questions the sped-up culture of 1998. He refers back to previous decades as being simpler and easier to navigate. You can almost draw a line between those thoughts and the comments he made around the time of RIF, about not knowing where their place in the world is, or which side of the argument they are on. Ironically, if the 90's was an era of a seemingly impossible culture of consumption, it was (in hindsight) ludicrously simple compared to where we find ourselves today.

I thought it was brilliant, Kieran Evans really knows how to work well with the guys and I felt it captured the feeling and essence of where the band were back in the late 90s.
Whilst I am grateful that the film was put together, I felt there were some wasted opportunities - Ready For Drowning at the start was lovely but it's already on Youtube in superior quality and the obvious duplication of things that we've heard featured in the box set (Prologue, Black Dog). More footage of the studio sessions would have been brilliant as well as these for me were without doubt the best bits, specifically the bits where they were arguing over the "'Ammond" during the recording of Be Natural. Interesting as well that they only really had footage of the Eringa sessions and nothing with Mike Hedges (except RFD, obviously). But all that aside it was lovely as a freebie and a nice companion piece to the boxset.

Why are the Rockfield sessions in Winter 1998 when they released Truth in September 1998?!?

Maybe like January 1998. British spring isn't until late March really....
