Would you want another Nicky album more than a James album?

I'd actually prefer one more James album myself, considering I *liked* the album, but was totally enamoured with the b-sides. Has more loving-potential for me.

Theres some absolute gems on there, Stab YR Heart, Bobby Untitled, Nicky Wires Last amongst the favourites, it would probably feature on my top 10 favourite albums.

I love IKTZ and have done from the 1st listen. I know Nicky doesn't have a briliant voice but it has a certain quality that I love and I can't wait to hear William's Last Words ( waterproof mascara at the ready). I'd also love some new solo material.

I laughed "Ha ha! You love Nicky Wire, for that is what you are listening to." And he says "Oh rly? He's got a MUCH BETTER voice than that other idiot*" I was surprised, as it's the first time I've heard someone prefer Nicky's voice. *a cruel reference to JDB, which earnt him a swift shove on the arm. |

I think he's got a more indie voice than James so it appeals to indie types more. That's 'indie' in the proper old sense, not like Coldplay. I think it's a shame the first album track he sang was Wattsville Blues, I think that's a little bit weak, I think it would have been much better if they used Ballad Of the Bangkok Novotel on Know Your Enemy, I think that's a much stronger track.

Yes, I agree with you, but I think it's odd that he prefers Nicky's voice, as my hubby HATES indie music. His favourite bands are Alice in Chains, Faith No More, RHCP, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. We have separate music rooms. |

Thank you! That is odd yes, it reminds me of when I was young, many a Smiths-hater could be tricked into giving them the thumbs up by an instrumental!

Recently I had "Nicky Wire's Last" as an earworm, going round and round my head many months after I last heard it, that must count for something!

I used to trick my parents into letting me play Manics mix tapes on car journeys- have the instrumental ADFL as the first track, lull them into a false sense of security. Mum's like "oooh this is nice", then BAM! blast them with Patrick Bateman and they can't turn it off cos they already promised you could listen to it all. |
