I think people are confusing what's good about I Killed the Zeitgeist with why they like NIcky Wire

But what the Hell:

87 - It's one of the best albums of the last 20 years from a pure songwriting point of view.

88. Because I finally got the cd for my birthday last month, and I keep finding myself singing the title track + "Goodbye Suicide" + "Break My Heart Slowly." There are some genuinely great tunes on there. Solid effort. Very memorable.
