Or even to tell us to 'fuck off', we'd lap it up.

Didn't JDB describe him as the "keeper of the flame" once?

as far as i can work out from the tale and the writings of happy feet, he logged on with the not unreasonable (when you think about it) expectation of a "fan site" being filled with nothing but love and praise for all that he and his band did. it was probably a shock to discover that the fans, as much as the love the band on the whole, consider one or two things they have done to be "a bit shit".

other than sporadic Bowie webchats, the only other thing i can give you by way of comparison is my experience with my beloved Frankie Goes To Hollywood on the main fan forum for them. Nasher is ace, always answering questions and chatting (he even confirmed that the hat Nicky claimed was "a bit Frankie Goes To Hollywood" was indeed one they wore when they were in the States in the 80s), Ped throws in the odd joke, Paul is off in NZ so rarely pops by, and Holly co-incidentally crops up whenever he has a release to promote. bass player Mark O'Toole used to be on a bit, but got into a bit of an argument with one "fan". the fan suggested Frankie were nothing more than a "prototype Spice Girls", Mr O'Toole suggested that the "fan" was a cunt, and subsequently Mr O'Toole has not been seen on any sort of internet forum or networking thing.

is there a Jedward forum, and does anyone know if whoever it is that looks after them visits it?

Poor Sean He just needs to realise that it's like this with every band, I'm sure he doesn't like some things that his fave bands have done. The fact that we're still here chatting about the Manics is tribute enough.

It's not even as if a Manics messageboard is going to give him a fair reflection of Manics fans opinions. The majority of fans were probably perfectly happy with the SATT cover so didn't feel the need to come on here and give an opinion. And most probably still don't even know about the Underdogs edit. Come on Sean, give us a wave! I liked Underdogs!

i gather James quite likes the porn. whereas it isn't interactive in the same sense as a forum like this, i am quite prepared to admit it's very likely that i have admired some of the same interwebnet sites as James has, possibly at the same time.

The thought occurs to me that as I joined here in 2008 I have never heard this famous edit! There's a thought to make you feel old.

But yes, some people like a good moan Sean but in our heart of hearts we love you, and we only criticise because we know how good you are when you're at your peak.

I'm sure he would, but you know that none of the Manics 'do' the internet - 'tis of the devil.

is it not at all possible that Sean thought he was joining a Happy Feet forum under the username Forever Delayed?

Ooh, nothing explicit but some weird probing of what might be going through the mind of a penguin. Fascinating stuff.
