Hope I wasn't standing in your way, there was a lot of height disparity and I felt sorry for some of the girls. For some reason there was one dude about 7-feet tall who insisted on being right near the front.
by any chance was the 7ft ish dude wearing a white t-shirt and a fluorescent green tie? just to the left of JDB????

Why was that you? To be honest I'm really not that observant when it comes to clothes, but perhaps I'd remember a flourescent tie - so probably no. Actually I've probably sounded heightist about it, gigs would be a bit drab if the crowd were arranged like a school photograph.

haha, I know what you mean!

just when I got a good view of Nicky (and was able to undress him with my eyes) people stood in front of me!
7foot tall? jesus christ! I wish I were only a fraction of that height!
but it's the law of gigs really...!

out of interest, did anyone see the girl with bleach blonde hair and red lipstick, she was fairly tall and very slim, looked very vintage- 1930's (?) style ?
I thought she was stunning! (god, I sound like a right stalker.) I smiled at her in the toilets she must of thought I was a right moron!

Yeah TOTALLY agree with you, I don't get the arguments that always arise from somebody tall getting in the way. We're all different and you'd think yr average Manics fan would understand that. Just because I'm tall it doesn't mean I don't want to be at the front any less than the next person... Besides I paid the same for my ticket as anyone else! HOWEVER, I'm not 7 ft!!! And I'm always conscious of people behind me so try to stoop a little!!! I WAS though the person who shouted for Yourself before RITH, only for James to say "we're going to have trouble with you tonight"!!! mweh hehehehe

AH! well done, they should have played yourself! that would have made my night... or if they'd played LBaL!
and I know what you mean. i was gunna push my way to the front but I didn't want to seem rude and ruin it for other people who'd rightly pushed there first! (and I didn't want to lose my sister in the crowd haha)
(I really should go out and stop posting on this thread!)

They take everything in good humour on stage anyway. I actually thought it was you who had shouted for Natwest, to explain the snipet we got later, so where that came from I don't know.

Enjoyed the gig despite feeling so tired I was nauseas.

Thought Peeled Apples was the worst song of the night, just didn't sound right at all.

The more I see them though the more I wish they'd drop Tolerate. Of course I understand why they don't and can't, but it always brings the set down imho.

This is Yesterday was a highlight, if a little slow. I nearly shat when James started Natwest...but it wasn't to be.

I thought the crowd was one of the best I've seen in my (counting um...15+ times I've seen them) and it seems there's been a real shift in the people who go to the manics gigs nowadays. There seemed to be a good bunce of ages and everyone seemed to know 90% of the songs.

You stole the sun acoustic was delightful, great banter from James throughout as well, almost reinvigorated my love of the song.

It may have been our position during the song, but I've never heard "A Design For Life" sang that loudly by an audience, so much so that for the second verse James turned the mic onto the crowd and says "This verse is yours". The fans took the roof off imho.

The venue is shit though, way too many pillars around the place and too much sticking out of the walls. The manics sounded good but British Sea Power sounded fucking dreadful, I don't think I could hear a single work that was sung by them. Speaking of BSP, I thought they should have been on earlier, doors opened at 7pm and they weren't on til 8pm, maybe that was planned, but the gig seemed to end later than most I've been to.

Felt bad for my wife, I don't think she could see a thing, so many tall people! When we went nearer the back there seemed to be a lot of people who had spent the money to just go and stand at the bar, getting pissed and talking loudly...which I don't quite understand either.

James though, what a star. He looks like he's enjoying more than ever. The fact he has some help with the musical side of things on stage now must be taking a huge burden away from him and it shows, the man was the ultimate frontman. JDB = Legend.

Minus marks to our local rag though, "Sean Moore played some beautiful trumpet". Fuck sake...can't stand shit journalism.

I'd almost forgotten about this until he asked me if he'd met my family the other day and seemed very amused by the amount of my relatives that were Manics fans... Wish I could have seen that!

I'd add some to the post itself but something's got upset somewhere and they just come up as blanks.
