Most Over-Rated MSP Album

TIMT and GT are a bit overrated IMO. Some truly amazing songs but also a lot of filler that makes them difficult to listen to as a whole.

I also think Lifeblood is overrated by fans. It's a great album musically but the lyrics are generally pretty uninteresting, Nicky-on-autopilot stuff. I'm not a huge fan of James' vocals in places either, which is odd because I usually love his voice.

I'd say TIMTTMY is massively overrated. It's hugely inconsistent in places.

Couldn't accuse This Is My Truth of being overrated cos as commercially successful as it was at the time, it seems to get slagged off on here a fair bit now and it's been in more bargain bins and charity shops than I've had hot dinners. Doesn't seem to be that highly rated... Couldn't accuse The Holy Bible of being overrated for the opposite reason, very critically acclaimed but hardly a hit. Oh and the fact that it's the best album ever.

Hard choice but I went for Everything Must Go. I think it's the closest I've come to wearing a Manics album out, critical and commercial hit, some great stuff on there but to be honest I struggle to remember the last time I had it on.

Well GT was certainly the most over-rated album by the band. Gonna be a number one in the UK and US, massive success, a brilliant work of art that'd let them retire after just one album, etc., etc. all that fun propagandizing. And then, of course, it wasn't. And NME's still over-stating the album like it's 1992 again. Damn good debut album? Yes. But really, the U.S. version of Repeat--ehh, not exactly brilliant stuff.

I still love GT, but the band and press seem to constantly go on about it.

To be fair, Truth is pretty much a special album to Tracey, so she's going to say it's amazing and defend it to the hilt. If you diss her favourite album, she'll get you. In a nice way of course.

You could level the same argument of over praising them at me, I rarely post anything negative about the band. My maxim(drummed into to me from an early age) is pretty much, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. I'm often snarky, but there tends not to be any venom behind it.

It can feel a bit like the BBC - that any negative comment must be immediately balanced with praise, which is usually along the lines of "No it doesn't" or "Well I like it!" which doesn't really lend itself to continued discussion... perhaps a good maxim for discussion forums is "discuss"?

That said, this place wouldn't be what it is without Tracey and her endless positivity and enthusiasm.

everyone, whether they care to admit it or not, behaves like a total dick now and then, or in extreme cases such as my good self, far too frequently.
