Surely, it is about the Music not the bloody title of the album!

By some of the comments in here, I'm getting the impression that the album title seems to be the most important element of the whole damn thing...

I for one, am completely stoked about the prospect of a new MSP album and can't wait.

How about a bit of a sneek peek at your Aussie/NZ gigs lads?

Yeah, let's hope so! God knows how much Wire wants it!

People like to moan about everything, so I wouldn't be bothered about it. The title seems okay, at first I wasn't sure when I saw it, sounded a bit too "normal", but then it fits when you think about all the Wire nostalgia-loving and all that!

Can we keep in mind that it's only a working title?!
I remember seeing in my local HMV that there was a space reserved for 'Goodbye/Suicide' and it turned out to be Lifeblood! (One of my fav albums).

One of their best recent albums had the worst title; Journal For Plague Lovers.

In addition to people tending to be critical, as has already been mentioned, I think another big thing is we don't know too much about the album. We wanna talk about it, but don't know that much about the actual music of it, so conversation's just based on what little bit of info we do have.

Also, this thread's about the title. So yeah, in this thread the title is the most important thing - but I doubt anyone's going to buy/not buy it on the strength of the title.

Speaking more widely I just hope they make a decent rock album again, that's what I come to this band for and they've proven many times that's the thing they're best at. Sadly it doesn't sound like that's what they're planning for this one.

welcome to the world of Manicsfandom in particular, the internets in general. until such time as they announce they are releasing an album called Sean Moore's French Horn by Sean Moore and Manic Street Preachers any idea they have will be shot down in flames, described as "shit", evidence that they are "past it" and have "sold out". we will then buy it and play it and split into two factions - those that hate it and those that will defend it to the death.

i am, however, on your side, as many here will be.

highly unlikely, sadly, going on previous tours before albums. if i recall right, about a month or two before Postcards From A Young Man or the first single was due, they were playing gigs and festivals with the Journal backdrop in place and no hints of the new album.

probably done to avoid bootlegging new material, but you never know - with his immense skill and prowess with such things, Nicky might decide that Australian internets are different from English internets, assume that no recordings will reach the target market for the album and play away.

It's just an album title and it's not even the final one but it's also one of the few news we have had in a long time then it's normal that people are talking about it. That said I'll try,as usual,to know as little as I can about the new album because I don't want have any kind of expectation and prefer to leave judgements for when I will listen to it.However at this moment I'm happy to know they are working on new stuff and that they seem to be optimistic about how things are going on.

Hmmmm....not too sure about the idea of two albums. I tend to find the more songs on the album the lower the quality control. Also did not like SATT or Postcards at all. Not even one song between them I like. That being said, whatI didn't like was the music. It sounded tuneless, repetitve. So I will probably wait to hear some of the stuff of the album first before I put my hand in my pocket

It's a better title than when we originally thought PFAYM was gonna be called It's Not War Just The End Of Love... which is still too wordy for anything.
I'm just excited either way, as long as it is a bit different.
KYE, LB and to an extent JFPL are all occasions where they've tried something a bit different and, whilst each has probably polarized a few people, neither album is boring in the way that SATT, PFAYM and probably TIMT are.
I just hope they're inspired!

I loved LB. Wire can have his way with the lyrics, all I ask for is MELODIES
