A bit of push and shove is quite fun at a Manics gig, I was envious of the folks behind us the whole time

Manic Street Preachers bassist Nicky Wire took a swipe at the Royal Family during the band’s show last night (July 3) at London’s Roundhouse as part of the month long iTunes Festival.

“We were gonna take a year off from touring altogether next year,” he told the crowd, “but we are gonna do one gig just to avoid the Diamond Jubilee. I mean, how fucking saturated have we been with the Royal Family this year? So there’ll be one gig, just to avoid having to listen to Prince Philip for an hour.”

The band’s set saw a rare outing for ‘Gold Against The Soul’ track ‘Life Becoming A Landslide’, before which Wire paid tribute to missing guitarist Richey Edwards.

Nice evening, good gig, not up there though sadly...

Nice to meet the very pretty meganslastwords, some arseholes behind me moshing around.

We waited for them afterwards, Nick Sean and James just sped off in the people carrier.

Wayne and Saxy came out and spoke for a minute though, i asked Wayne about the 'Greatest Hits' gig, he said 'it is looking good!' so later on this year there could be a one off gig.

The 'fake' merch out front was good! - £5 for t shirt and hoody!

Karren shouted for Sleepflower, i shouted for No Surface!

James said that he and a producer used to watch people shagging outside Faster Studios in 1992 when recording MASH.

Good lord...

Nearly forgot...I Love how you can tell when the band have been practicing a "new song to the setlist", as it's so much slower and James replicates the solo nearly spot on, as though he's been listening to it lots.. See Life becoming a landslide! Though James' vocals were ace on it.
