Same here. The album sounds amazing on tape lol. I paid full whack for it on release. Stupid of me really but it's a fairly good boxset.

It's a shame Radiohead aren't putting their album out on cassette so everyone could appreciate how awesome cassettes are. But no, they're making £30 newspapers cool instead.

That would imply everyone in the world likes Radiohead enough to be suddenly interested in cassettes again.

I'd just be happy to see people interested in buying music again, especially buying music in shops. But I'm fighting against the technology and we'll all soon be streaming the stuff to our cars. I give it five years before the buying of anything physical is a cottage industry (well maybe ten years).

Unhappy

I will mourn the demise of physical media. I was clearing out my room at my parents place, and I found so many CDs. For most of them I could recall who gave it to me and what year - I could even tell my favourites by how scratched the cases were due to use.

MP3 files just don't have that, you can't hold one in your hand and think "the 13 year old me held that in 1998".

It will be a shame if HMV go bust, while they're not the best music retailer out there, they are all most towns have.

Of course I now have a problem of where to put them all, MP3s don't suffer from that.

Needless to say it was gone in minutes.

Save for Manics signed editions, I don't own a single CD. I threw the scruffy things out years ago and I'm happier and listen to more music now I don't have to hunt the things down and put them in anything. My iPod has completely changed the way I look at music, I used to listen to the 10 CDs I could be arsed to over and over... now I just shove entire discographies on my iPod and hit shuffle on the entire collection. Much better when you don't constantly know what's coming.
