Lovely news for james, and it better have an awesome name. But I won't be putting my knitting/patchwork/craft skills to use because I don't know him and would find that quite strange.
Edit: I mean really. The man has lived a lot of his life in the public eye, has to deal with a lot of obsessive fans on a day to day basis. None of us (well a few, there a a few people that know them) actually know him, no matter how much they and their music mean to us, they don't know us. This is his private family life, it took him long enough to announce that he was going to be a father, probably for good reasons. If asking for photos of his wedding is out of order, I don't see why sending him baby clothes is any diffrerent. In fact, more out of line to me. I do understand that people mean this in the loveliest of ways and only have good intentions at heart, but it's private, and a family thing. And considering the obsessive manics fandom over the years, If I was him I would immediately dispose of any item I received in case of madfan poisoning. No ill intentions means, but just some thoughts. I just don't think it's right. it's his baby after all.

I think you might have a valid point and I guess I agree with you.
I really thought it was a nice thing, a ''you gave us so much that we want to tell you that we're happy if you're happy'' thing.
Mind you, not a ''we want to share your happiness'', because that would have been creepy indeed.
I guess I've only known/met musicians who are some sort of media whores, so being part of their life was kinda easy/allowed. A musician I know got a lot of stuff when his daughter was born, but, again, he used, he still does, to write a lot of personal stuff regarding his family, and his wife always hangs around at gigs and stuff so we know her as well.
I guess the situation is quite different, as we (I) don't know Mrs. B and James is far away from being a public figure nowadays.
The way they're handling the situation (read: not speaking a word about it) let us know that they want it to be a private thing, and private doesn't include the fans.
I've read here that we don't even know Sean's children's name (I had no clue you didn't know them because I wasn't interested in knowing them anyway), which is a very strong signal about how much (how little) they want to share with us.
I don't want to sound arrogant or anything, but I still don't think that the original idea of sending/giving him gitfs for the baby was creepy. Impolite, maybe, but not creepy. I can only speak for myself only, but for me it was more a way to say ''thank you'', than a way to say ''hey, I want to be part of your life!''.
I hope it makes sense...

Edit: sorry for the novel, it was more me talking aloud in my head, than an explanation to you

I do agree with this, mainly because James seems to be private about these things and he doesn't seem like someone who openly discusses his family life - as you said, we only found out that he was going to have a baby at the last minute! And even then, there was no direct comment by him, only the organisers of the gig saying why he wasn't there.
I know people are trying to be nice, but I think he'd just find it scary!

I totally agree. I've never been comfortable with the concept of giving presents to famous people tbh, even if fans are only doing it with good intentions.

I agree with Sophie. Send what you like to the guys, but families are very much off limit.
C'mon guys, he didn't announce it until he very much had to. He's a very private person. Say gratz if you see him at the signings, but think about his wife - it's her baby. She might not want stuff from strangers.
