Maybe the PR has spun us the wrong idea about the intentions of the book?

I think it's more a case of Nicky's artistic bent, output in a different medium. Seems it's more an artistic expression, rather than a document/photo biog of the band. Would also explain the 'lots of white space' (like in proper photographery books)

To be fair there are two shots on the front cover, and one of those is of a tree.

By the way, it's been removed for sale from Amazon while it's under review after a customer complaint. It would be exciting to think we have another soap opera on our hands but I really can't see how a customer can say the product itself 'isn't as described' beyond their individual copy being damaged in some way.

Now, SATT, there was a product that wasn't released as described.
I'd have preferred the cover to be embossed like the Nick Cave & The Badseeds album Abbatoir Blues. Bit worried those stickers won't stay on the front for long! Apart from that I like it as an arty piece - It won't be to everyone's liking though!

Can I not even entice you with a picture of a dead goldfish?

Some of the photos are rubbish, very odd choices, I would liked to have seen a lot more Manics and less trees and other such stuff. Like dead goldfish. I certainly wouldn't pay the full £30 for it, £19 on Amazon was enough for me. I'm glad I have it though.
Oh also I'd like to note, about 75% of it seems to be photos from 1998!

Exactly, most of it is from TIMT. Hoped for a bit more pre TIMT-polaroids. It's a nice book, but it didn't had the awe' effect like the Forever Delayed book had at the time.

Is there a second Nicky Wire coming out? and will the Kevin Cummins book also be released as a normal priced issue? (hopefully)

The second Nicky Wire book is a memoir. I'm saving up for that. I've read some of Nicky's prose stuff before (think it was a preface to a book about football in Wales?) and I really liked his writing style.

Well the book got delivered this morning. It's quite massive. Not opened it up yet.
I'm just wondering which shelf is strong enough to hold it. And where I can get a pair of white felt gloves to turn the pages.

Might consider suing the Manics for dislocating my shoulder!

I'd pay shitloads for a special edition of Wire's memoir/(auto)biography. I'm not too sure about the Polaroids book but if I get it as an Xmas present I won't use it as a door stopper.

In all seriousness I think it would be a great book to leave in the toilet for guests to look through as they dropped one.

Maybe they were actually expecting an actual book of polaroids? Or an actual Manics Family Album? There weren't enough pictures of James' dad in it for them, or Nicky's dog.

I still haven't taken the wrapping off mine and now I've seen the dead goldfish picture, I think I may never do. Surely it can't get better than that?!

Is 3.07pm when the photograph was taken, or estimated time of death?

Are you referring to Amazon stopping selling it or the picture of the dead goldfish spoiling the surprise for you?

The person who raised issue with Amazon

As for the fish - the time denotes the point at which Sean dropped a turd in the pond

Surely Sean's poos aren't that toxic. What is he eating...

Play.com is still selling it and has it for a penny cheaper than Amazon.
