This bit exists?

*extremely minor nitpick:*
I could have lived with the end of 4st 7lbs losing 30 seconds or so, the first two thirds of the song are so powerful then it seems to fizzle out. Though that may be the intended effect I guess.

I actually avoided THB (apart from the singles) until VERY recen tly.Although I knew it was their masterpiece,I'd read such reviews as "Richey's suicide note" and "The sound of a scab being picked"...
Then I was Christmas shopping and saw the 10th anniversary version for £12... |

In fact, I'm half tempted to write to ITV proposing a prank show in which Manics fans have their collections replaced with mine and a hidden camera captures all the fun. Although writing this, I feel another thread coming on... At least I'm listening to it rather than keeping it in pristine condition and not breathing on it! |

WEll,I prefer the US mix version.... and really like it.But haven't sat down with the lyrics and dissected it yet... Was surprised that the actual music on some of the songs is quite..jolly for want of a better word (4st 7lb) Not too keen on "Mausoleum" though. or THAT apostrophe.... and son of stopped..got mine from HMV if you are after a replacement for yours..... |

No no no! It still works. Battered and devalued, but it still plays.

Lowest point? Probably Mausoleum, i've never liked that song really. Compared to the worst Manics tracks i suppose it isn't too bad, but generally its just a bit stale compared to the majority of the album. The other track i've never been keen on is This is Yesterday, just seems to plod along. IHOE has grown on me since i first heard it, but i prefer the live version on THB re-release. Oh, and the outro to 4st 7ib annoys me every time...skip!
I don't know why people slag She is Suffering so much, to me it just sounds like it pathed the way for A Design for Life. The latter musically really sounds like a natural progression from that song, as if Richey going missing made no difference to what they were going to do next. Maybe that's just me... |

Lowest point: TIHOE. If I want to listen to "spooky" Manics, I cue up SYMM.

SYMM is definitely superior, by a long stretch. Also 'I'm Not Working' is quite creepy too.

I'm Not Working creepy?
Bit of a strange comparison to make between SYMM and TIHOE! I love all three songs in different ways of course!

I change my vote from PCP to Of Walking Abortion. I've been in a bad mood and the latter sounds a bit plodding and dense right now. (Bad description, not sure how to best phrase it.) Next time I'm in a good mood/have actually slept it might switch again.

Too many words all at once prehaps?

I've always thought PCP sounds out of place at the end. Brilliant song, of course.

If pushed then the weakest point would be 'This is yesterday' but to me this is the greatest album ever made. In terms of life changing records nothing has matched it!
