Oh for fuck's....so that I can sleep...Apparently it's about going back to when you were young and in love for the first time - with a girl,boy,song...the parental admonishment of what have you done to your hair (during your goth, punk, manic kohl phase no doubt) and the mix of love and self loathing ... the self belief that makes you think you can conquer the world and the self doubt that holds you back. Love/hate, destroy/create...it's borrowed a lot from GN'R and from Aerosmith' You See Me Crying....they wanted to do the whole shameless anthemic rock thing but with a manical flavouring to the lyrics. Their early days defiance meeting with the older reflective days but unabashed retreating back and revelling in it
Homework done. Still see Richey floating through cos he seems to float through most of the Wire's lyrics....and this seems to reflect back to the early days of GT & the dreams of the band....and they've made the anthemic song they've often seemed fond of/wanted to do

Apparently not the band, that was part of the problem.

"Now Baby what you done to your hair?" = This awful use of the english language from such an intelligent band says it all.

They are allowed to do songs with simple lyrics, if someone has to do a 'pop' song, why not the Manics? This isn't a political thriller of a song, it's more a message to their younger selves, and the lyrics suit that just fine.
