I think you are not aware that only you as the poll's creator and the administrators can see who has voted what? Otherwise your behaviour is truly unfair.
I have not voted because I am torn. For sheer sentimentality, and because I would turn up anyway, I might well vote yes. However, because I would rather have the Manics stay vibrant and evolving, with THB as the significant exception to the rule that it was, rather than become the stale nostalgia act that this might lead to, I would firmly vote no. I guess.

I voted yes initially because, let’s face it, it would be a Manics gig so I would probably go. But the best thing about the THB shows is that the era is definitely deserving of re-visiting as it is such an iconic era in terms of not only the music but the imagery. What would they do for EMG20, all come out in leisurewear? Wouldn’t be as cool really. But also, to back it up they have new material to play in the second set and a strong new album in Futurology. If there is no new material it would just be an exercise in nostalgia. And I don’t want my Manics to become a nostalgia act… So in summary no new music, no EMG20.

They could always bring a new album out at some point then play some EMG favourites during a second set - just a little something to mark it.

EMG20
I can understand why some vote No, and it's a fair response; bachelorette's post makes a lot of sense to me. I would still vote Yes, though ideally if it were similar to last year; we had a fantastic new album in Futurology, so it wasn't nostalgia to revisit THB.

This was the album that changed everything for them, it's still their most recognisable album and was a commercial colossus in 1996. Along with THB, it is their most important album. Imagery wasn't a factor, as it was with the Bible, but from an artistic point of view, EMG is as important to the Manics story as THB is. I don't think the Manics would be a nostalgia act, going from the albums RTF and Futurology, they are arguably at another creative peak, and with the overwhelming positive reviews Futurology received, the band would be in a wonderful position and confident to keep creating. They are creatively vibrant; IF they did not have that, then nostalgia would gain a stronger foothold maybe. |

I voted "No" to this. I'd prefer a celebration for Truth personally.

In my opinion THB and EMG are just almost obviously their two most important albums (and the evidence is the band think so too). If anyone wants anniversary tours/releases beyond those two, I think you're unlikely to get them if there hasn't been another EMG one first.
I don't think there is any danger of the manics just becoming a nostalgia band only playing old stuff - but on the other hand they have always played lots of old stuff alongside the new, like most bands do. It's just most bands don't last long enough to be playing 20th anniversary tours for one album, let alone more than one. The way I see it, if they're playing it in full behind closed doors anyway, for their own amusement, why not tour it? It's not like they spend every waking moment of their lives writing and recording new material when not playing their older work. I think fears of them not creating new stuff because they might do a few gigs focused on old stuff should not a big concern. Fundamentally I just find it a bit selfish that people who wouldn't be interested would wish it didn't happen, but would still wish their own fave album played in full if there were any prospect of that happening. Looking at it through the analogous lens of pizza, I don't want mushrooms on my pizza, so I don't order pizzas with mushrooms on, but I don't want them banned from everyone else's pizzas just because I don't like them much. I would hope others felt the same about me having pineapple on my pizza.

I think they could probably get away with incorporating it into the next tour and ignore the majority of the other hits. EMG is as close to as 'hits' album as you can get.

The band will have to make sure to play using a PA that's been chucked in a bog, had the mud cleaned off with a small trowel, and subjected to a vicious assault from a sledgehammer and it'll sound just like the album.

I voted yes, but I'd like for some kind of tour where they play something from every single album and a few b-sides, it'd be such a cool varied set list and please most people.
