*salutes*

I had to listen to it all bloody day last week because one of my colleagues had it on. Not one decent song all day. Not one. As for the DJs... It's like the most illiterate and irritating form of radio. I hate it. Hate hate hate hate hate. It's not often I hate something this much.

I personally don't like the station but it serves a purpose to play mainstream poppy shit that some people really dig and it wouldn't be fair to take away the station just because you yourself don't like it.

Besides, if Radio 1 didn't exist those same people would listen to another, probably worse, pop orientated station.

I don't like radio 1 because it doesn't play manic street preachers or anything cool like that, it plays way too much r and b music that is just a bit too black and none wannabe-elitist-indie-kid for my tastes

I last listened to any radio show (apart from football or investigating the novelty of Digital Radio) of my own choice since the late 90's, i can't say my lifes suffered.

I'm shocked that anyone actually EXPECTED the new single to get played on Radio 1....

Well this whole album has been marketed as 'one last shot of mass communication' (as Nicky Wire keeps reminding us) so I would have expected it to be played on Radio 1. As someone else has said here, the record companies pay for the songs to become apart of the playlists so surely Radio 1 would have been the best option...? But Sony seem to be largely made up of people doing nothing but running around with their arms in the air, screaming 'THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS DYING' so maybe they're just a bit distracted from doing what they should be doing, insuring the bands they have signed have successful campaign trails before the album/single is released.

Radio 1 people wouldn't buy the Manics anyway, I don't hate them because of no Manics, it's just an apalling station that serves to destroy originality and put artists on pedestals and commercialise eveything.

They've been played to death on R2 and 6 Music and got the video on GMTV so there's your mass communication. You were never going to get JCEQT or anything from JFPL A listed on Radio 2 so job done.

R1 play is dead in the water unfortunately...don;'get me started on how I feel about Radio 1 though.

But at least a handful of plays on Radio 1 would have benefited them, no?

6Music definitely the way to go... Peel would be turning in his grave if he were to hear the "music" radio 1 play now....

Listen to 6 music. Utterly brilliant. They played ZAPPA the other day. ZAPPA!

If it isn't sodding "New Music" it isn't going to get on Radio 1.
