I find the 'we must be grateful for what we get' attitude quite puzzling.
If you eat some chips that are shit then they are shit. If you buy some jeans that look shit then they are shit. If the Manics do something you don't like then you must be grateful. Let's expand on this then, I'd like to personally thank Busted, so glad they made an effort, I used to think they made borderline retarded music for fans of modern day US 'punk', now I'm just grateful they bothered at all. |

I was going to disagree with you as I didn't like your post but instead I'm simply honoured you bothered to post at all and as such I'm not allowed an opinion

I think that it was really a missed opportunity to do something great with what Richey had left but then again, reading the full lyrics, it is amazing that they were able to produce as a good an album as they did because some of the lyrics are a bit mental.

Okay, my attempt: William's Last Words (because I can't be arsed to give it a new title) Til we meet again Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye The long day is through Once loved, now forgotten Chorus All queer and quaint Clear and crazy isn't it? I'll just say cheerio Here I go on my way You've been so kind So sweet, so gentle And if we meet again The whole world smiles with you Chorus All queer and quaint Clear and crazy isn't it? I'll just say cheerio Here I go on my way You can die happy But I wonder if you wake up happy? Dreams enfold you They leave and die Chorus All queer and quaint Clear and crazy isn't it? I'll just say cheerio Here I go on my way. Granted, I've kept it in a sort of "farewell" tone, but I do think the song is written like a farewell, even when you see the full prose, albeit more of a slightly rambling toast at the end of a retirement party rather than a goodbye from Richey per se when taken in full. If only I could write a tune...

I like it. It can still be read as a suicide/farewell note from Richey but it doesn't have the sledgehammer effect that Nicky's does in places.
And now we are showing Richey's genius by getting three songs and counting out of one lyric. Now we need someone to get a bit of Bill in there. Good old Bill. |
