Peeled Apples - still cool, even if a bit overlong. I like its groove.

Me and Stephen Hawking - still nifty, but continues to have that something that just doesn't fit.

Pret/Rep - The first half is nicely chaotic with the endless instrumental loops and merged vocal clips, but then the song subtly and slowly morphs into something relaxing and atmospheric. Very nifty.

Joke Sport - Very good this one. Love the beat, love the melodic parts in the background (the strings, the piano). The ending speed-up is rather cack though. Although it's practically a cover than a remix.

Bath of Bleach - Cool synth-rock modification of the original. Replacing the rock with some electronic cool. Very enjoyable.

Journal - there's some nice ideas and sounds here but not nice enough to stand the "7 minute repetition" treatment. Mneh.

Jackie Collins - Another cover on a remix album! Very fun though. All cute and jangly.

Marlon JD - I find it a rather cool touch how they've used Nicky's vocals from the demo. Alright but not too interesting in general.

Facing Page - still really liking this.

All Is Vanity - still pretty forgettable.

Virginia State - Triiiipe.

Bag Lady - Still very cool in its bubbly synthpoppiness.

Doors Closing Slowly - still utterly, utterly terrible

William - Pastoral. Pretty. Almost serene. Turns into excellent when the drums kick in. Likey very much.

In other words, surprisingly good stuff here. I may not listen to these songs a lot, but it's not as instantly dismissable as I feared.

For anyone who hasn't bought the remixes, Spinner premiered the Underworld remix of "William's Last Words" as a full stream today:

Okay, with further listens it's become clear that the William's Last Words remix is pretty much one of the essential MSP remixes. Bloody brilliant.

Strange in a bad way or in a good way? In other words, should I bother buying it, considering I love the Wolf?

I like Peeled Apples and Bath of Bleach, not so sure about any of the rest.

Haha, I made almost this exact same post on another forum so if people also frequent that one and for some reason didn't figure out based on my user name, hey, it's me!

It also shows the Manics how to do a closing track. They should get Underworld to do Winterlovers as well. Extended outros FTW. No more of that three minute bollocks.

As much as I was looking forward to Fuck Buttons, I don't really get what it has to do with VSEC. And I got what The Horrors were doing!
