Aye, I know, I meant in general rather than in particular reference to Nicky. Maybe I've just met too many annoying politics students (again not about Nicky, just mere coincidence here ).

Somehow this has turned into a debate about classes...only on the Manics' forum!

My parents both worked in kitchens - my mom a school cook so she could still take me to and collect me from school, and my dad a kitchen porter in a hospital. He worked 8 hours a day 6 days a week until health meant he couldn't. I bet he'd still be there now at 72 if he could.

Aside from the first few years of my life where they were both unemployed thanks to the Tory goverment, we never had to worry about money. They always spent sensibly on themselves to ensure I had everything I needed to get by both socially and academically.

I've worked the same minimum wage job for over ten years and have no desire for promotion or change. I don't know if this means I'm working class or just settled. I do however feel I've failed them a tad.

Dad's an electrician, mom's spent most of my life working as a sales assistant, I work in a factory, minimum wage.
I consider myself working class, and my family as working class.

Oh but that's not possible you see. Apparently we're all middle class unless we're on work experience.

What if the Queen did an afternoon's work experience in Primark?

In her crown and Royal jewels, she would most definitely be working class.

Maybe we're all destined to be royalty, but just on indefinite work experience until our time comes.

I look up to you, because you are upper class. I look down on him, because he is working class.

Corrected for my sake.

200 London gigs a year is just obscene.
