The diversity of the Manics makes it a bit pointless to compare Bible to Postcards. I think you can compare Postcards to EMG, SATT. I'm not a big fan of THB as it always makes me aggitated. Which is probably a testament to its creativity and a compliment. It's just not something that I want in my life.

I don't think "best since The Holy Bible" is in any way damning to the Manics other albums. THB operates on a level of artistic, emotional and intellectual achievement and uniform quality that barely any other albums have even caught sight of; you can't expect them to bring something like that out of the bag every time. The fact that they did it once is enough.

Not really what I meant; saying PFAYM is better than the likes of EMG and JFPL isn't really well reasoned.

For what it's worth:

The Holy Bible
Journal For Plague Lovers
Everything Must Go
Know Your Enemy
Postcards From A Young Man
Send Away The Tigers
Gold Against The Soul
This Is My Truth tell Me Yours
Lifeblood
Generation Terrorists

As a band they haven't stuck to the same formula for albums so if PFAYM isn't for you that's fine. Don't listen to it. Listen to what you do like. They can't please everyone all of the time.

Personally i find PFAYM full of amazing melodies (generally) good lyrics And Jame's voice in fine form. As a rule i prefer their heavier stuff but i pretty muched loved this album from the off.

Send Away the Tigers

Atrocities

Generation Terrorists

If Postcards and GT are atrocities, the vast majority of guitar bands out there might as well hang up their instruments now!

I thought i already posted here, but can't find it..

The Holy Bible

...........................

Journals For Plague Lovers

...........................

Everything Must Go
Gold Against The Soul
Generation Terrorists
Lifeblood
Know Your Ememy
Postcards From A Youngman
Send Away The Tigers

..........................
Truth *

* Has been relegated to Conference North

Lifeblood is the big mover in my latest manics chart. It's jumped 3 places!

Postcards is probably a better album than Know Your Enemy. The songs are OK, but the band just don't sound at all genuine after Journals. You don't go from Send Away The Tigers to Journals and then take a giant leap backwards to Postcards. It just left a sour taste.

that's a very good point. JfPL was so exciting, and they sounded so alive, and then Postcards was just... there. a dead fish of an album.

After some thought:

Journal for Plague Lovers
The Holy Bible
This is My Truth Tell Me Yours
Everything Must Go
Send Away the Tigers
Postcards from a Young Man
Gold Against the Soul
Know Your Enemy
Generation Terrorists
Lifeblood

I'm aware this is... idiosyncratic.

Gutless, you can't just come in and disagree every time someone doesn't 100% like something the Manics do. You're trolling the forum.
